Lewis was the best of that era. I understand people love to make Tyson this invincible monster, but he would get slept by Lewis.

Of course he had a punchers chance but Lewis was a much better fighter.
I agree. People forget that Tyson did most of what he did against weaker opponents or those who were not as big and skillful as Lennox or those who were so scared of him that they lost even before they entered the ring.

Tyson had trouble with bigger opponents and Lennox is as big as they get and again very skillful. Sure Tyson has a good punchers chance but skills wise, size wise and cool-headedness, Lewis hands down.

Lewis would take the early rounds and by the late rounds Lewis would KO a frustrated and not-so-cool-headed Tyson.

Who would win in a one off fight is hard to call. WHo has the better resume and career I don't think anyone would have any doubts though.

tyson had some trouble starching some of the taller bigger guys but he still won by good margins in most cases and I think tony tucker and bonecrusher had slightly better chins than lewis. I respect those siding with lewis tho,,,as he was a damn great fighter and it is a tough one to call hence the poll

Yes but those guys you mentioned were not on the same level as Lewis.

Lewis had success against tough smaller opponents like Tua and an older version of Tyson. While some think about what Tyson brings to the table, one needs to realize that that style is all wrong for him and all right for Lewis. Again, Tyson had the power and speed to KO anyone but he had trouble against certain fighters and Lewis fits that style.

I see your points but lewis never fought a shorter fighter even near as explosive as tyson was. tua was powerful but didnt have near the speed,,,accuracy and countering ability as tyson and he came in way too heavy for lewis. I agree lewis is worlds above tucker and bonecrusher but I still cant help seeing tyson countering with a huge combination and rocking lewis and following up. im 55/45 in favor of tyson by kayo

Tyson only had a slightly better chin.

Both of them can easily KO the other.

Lewis had the height, reach and timing to make him more than slightly more likely to land it.

Lennox Lewis was a great boxer and world champion who used his size and reach to his advantage and certainly in his prime was one of the smartest heavyweights of all time, but given Tyson's strength in his prime, namely his ability to knock out fighters with one punch, regardless of size or previously considered "toughness" couple with the incredible physique of a perfectly proportioned and properly trained boxing machine, I don't think Lewis, even with his own knock-out power and ring IQ, would have much of a chance against a prime "Iron" Mike Tyson. It was Lewis who was close to being knocked out by Vitali Klitschko due to the mess of the cuts on Klitschko's face and neither of the Klitschkos hit as hard as Tyson did in his prime. I know Tyson and Klitschko's styles are very different but I do think any serious connects by a prime Tyson would make Lewis buckle badly and Tyson would go in for the quick kill. Lewis did do more damage to Vitali Klitschko than any other boxer before but regardless of what Lennox might say or think about that fight, he was just about out on his feet before it was stopped.

I think the opposite of a few here, prime Tyson is all wrong for Lewis. Tyson scores a knockout.

I think if lennox wins (which would be very possible) it would be via decision. prime in shape tyson had a granite chin. even a shot tyson with no stamina lasted into the 8th round with lennox. anything is possible tho and lewis's power was no joke
