Matthysse fans are always crying about "If it wasn't for the eye" but the eye didn't swell up until the 6th. Danny was still in the fight and took some solid shots and gave as well as he got. Lucas was just out matched. Garcia was the better man and Lucas fans need to deal with that fact. In a rematch Danny takes him out. Rematch is not 50/50 because Lucas Matthysse cannot hurt Danny Garcia so much that he would have an edge. Matthysse fans swore up and down that Garcia had no chance and now all they can talk about is the eye? Who made the eye like that? Danny Garcia from punching Matthysse in the face and then dropping him in the same round where Matthysse hit him with a monster punch knocking his mouth piece out. Danny is just better case closed.

i've never seen Danny do anything better in the ring than Lucas. shorter more compact punches, more power, better defense, cuts off the ring WAY better, and better footwork all around. danny is actually more one-dimensional than lucas. danny basically stands in the middle of the ring with very little movement, and tries to counter. he'll throw wasted shots in the attempt to get his opponent to open up but it's very rudimentary counterpunching, nothing to the extent of a mayweather, marquez, even lucas does a better job IMO

Honestly there is no more reason for debates, arguments, quarrels, Internet Beef and or Name calling because the fight is over and Danny Garcia is the 140LB champ of the division. Matthysse was going to destroy Garcia, he hit too hard, he would put Garcia in hospital, he would out box and out punch him but I kept telling everyone that Garcia was the superior boxer and Matthysse had a puncher's chance in a close fight. Garcia put me to shame, he schooled Matt, he made him look pathetic at times. Matt looked so sad in his corner, bloated eye, breathing hard, swinging wildly to try and reach Danny's chin.

Danny put on a p4p performance, if men like Canelo, Broner and Guerrero can make it onto p4p lists, where is Danny? 99% of this forum was hating on him but when he whooped their boy no one is mentioning his name. Danny is the best 10 pounder in quite some time, they will have to learn to deal with that.

Yes, it was an unlucky circumstance, especially after finally getting to see what caused the eye to swell in this thread, but **** happens in boxing. There was too much back and forth between the fanbases to have any intelligent discussion about the fight right now, so don't expect it. Danny won, and he won by doing things a lot of the boxing community didn't think he could. Let's leave it at that until things calm down.

What caused it?

You can see in the video it's a punch if you slow it down and pause it when it's landing it might not look hard but it's clear to see t wasn't a thumb and was a punch.
