Miami fans are the worst. They don't sell anything out, even Heat games go without selling out. The Marlins are played in empty stadiums and that was after they got a brand new one.

I think Rigo is a great fighter, but to some extent he is a hard sell with his style.
I disagree -- It's a matter of investment. Effort, time and money.

For the purposes of this thread, I consider "arena" to have a fairly loose definition. There's no way I see a Rigo-headlined card selling out a stadium. But I can see it selling out a six thousand person venue. That might be the max at the present time, however. I think three thousand is pretty easy.

The card would probably be predominately Cuban, but Miami has loads of people from all over Latin-America. A couple of interesting fighters from Puerto Rico, Colombia, Venezuela, etc. would round out the show and enhance attendance.

Because James, D-Wade, and Mike Miller are Cuban... got it.

Easily, easily. Which is why I don't understand where posters are coming from with the whole Cubans can't sell... even in Miami bs. Stop it.

Yes. He's supposed to headline an HBO card in Miami, possibly at the Hialeah Park Casino, the first or second week in December. No opponent has been announced, but Agbeko seems like the strongest rumor.

Considering how the Florida crowd reacted to Crawfords performance, I don't think Rigo could sell out the arena.

Fighting in Orlando is night and day compared to S. Miami. Rigo needs a quality opponent no matter where he fights. Then tickets must be priced so the average earning person can attend and have a good seat! Theres a huge Cubano sports fan base in Miami but they don't want to be short changed as the Marlins ownership through on them!
You can't make big money with the "little guys" its a shame but its been like this since the early 1950's!
He needs to get active and take on all comers from 119 to 126 with a stipulation that no one comes into the ring above 132lbs. This guy is a small framed guy without great height and extra weight with the little guys becomes an advantage much more so than the higher weight class.

He needs to fight atleast 4 times a year this coming year then 3 then try for the higher stakes twice a year. Great talent, best in boxing but no one cares!
                    Shame!!

Some good points, Ray. I'll just focus on the bold.

I agree they need to make ticket prices affordable enough to attract sufficient customers. The trick is in making enough money to cover costs. It's not always an easy task, especially with a little guy like Rigo. And, speaking of small, Guille is a tiny dude. He can easily fight at 118. Lots of people are complaining that he needs to move up to 126, but that's like asking Mayweather to move to 160. It's a bit much.
