Got to remember, although Rigo doesn't bring in a quantity in numbers as far as attendance goes in ********-influenced stadiums (ie Vegas, Atlantic City), he does draw a bigger number in money to be made at these arenas as opposed to Miami.

Anyway, to stay on point, I believe southern Floridians will come out to a properly staged boxing card. Despite what a few here are saying, Arum evidently agrees.

Damit305, you are obviously an uneducated individual. What does picking oranges and fearing for deportation have to do with boxing? There are successful individuals in every country regardless of the economic situation. Are you aware, the second wealthiest person on this planet is of Mexican heritage? If Cuba didn't have a Communist government then they would not receive preferential illegal immigration treatment.

I'll be heading down to Miami for that card. A few other guys from this site will be as well. Maybe you can join us.

Originally posted by MastrangeloJust wondering, there's nice Cuban populations there and I lately saw 2 shows from Miami with Cubans headlining. Hurtado vs. Morua and someone vs Elieser or Eliseo Castillo(can't remember).
Crowds were really nice and lively, you could hear "Cuba!" shouts and arenas seemed to be full. Wouldn't guy like Rigondeaux be able to sell well there? Or isn't it at least be worth a try?

the biggest cuban draw of all time in florida is joel casamayor. most of his big fights were on the west coast.
do the people who think rigondeaux could become some big star think arum would have a problem with that if it were true?
bob arum is smarter than anybody you've ever been around extensively. he is very good at what he does. he has a much better grasp on the process by which one would turn rigondeaux into a star in miami.
believe me, dude. if arum could make this guy a big star he would. you're talking about a casual fanbase. miami based cubans are not a boxing crowd. if they were it would be easy to put fights there.
some of you guys really don't think clearly when it comes to your countrymen. you're talking about attracting casual fans. you think it's more reasonable to assume that arum has a vendetta against rigondeaux than it is to assume that he cannot turn the guy into a draw?
the guy is 122 lbs soaking wet
31 years old
speaks no english
and has a style that will have casual fans booing in three rounds.
But I can see what you're saying about Arum being smart at what he does, etc. etc. He would have been extremely smart if he cashed out pac in either '10 or '12. This genius had dos opportunities to get really, really paid.
I understand the Asian market destroys anything Cubans can offer. But if this guy is as smart as you say he is, he'd find a way to capitalize on the little amount of time he has left to get the fiscal gains that he can out the ultra-talented Rigo. It seems as though he's choosing not.
All I'm saying is that he took a mediocre [at best] Asian guy and made some bank off of him. Why not invest in a game plan to push the authentic goods, the no frills version to the people.
Be serious, how many people outside of hardcore boxing fans knew who pacquiao was before his meteoric rise after he was supposedly done by '30. You're telling me this highly intelligent guy can't figure something out? Bollocks. Schaefer is just as bad with Lara. They both suck. Let them out of their contracts so they can sign with IMP or DKP and just continually build their names in FL so these same goofballs can run back when they see gains.
