It wouldn't hurt. He has a different personality to GGG, but look how well it works for him. A few prepared lines for interviews is all it would take.

English is NOT the 1st Language in Miami lol...Him not speaking English has nothing to do with him selling a fight. Popularity does. I know Cubans in Miami that are your casual fans of the sport and dont know who he is. He has a way to go before being a sell out and also a PPV star.

I just remember somebody in one of these threads was getting updates from team members about his camp leading up to the Donaire fight.

That, too. Which is unfortunate because he deserves to get paid very well and dude is a starving artist.
If there's a good card in Miami, PM me or damit, we'll probably be there. There's always room for another true fight fan in our little clique. Cuauhtémoc1520 was supposed to meet up with us last time, but he was unable to make it.

It was a great time, D. The promotion was for shit, but the venue held a very reasonable turnout. As we discussed that night, there's no doubt a well-promoted card featuring Rigo and some decent supporting players would sell out a place like the Amercican Airlines Arena. No problem. If a barely promoted Barthelemy fight did that kind of turnout, Rigo and perhaps Gamboa or Lara would do three times those numbers.

            • If he would top rank would have done it a long time ago. Rigo just doesn't have a fan friendly style. Why the hell would top rank not make money.

He is one of the best pure boxers ever but he's just not TV or a main event material. Which is unfair.

There was little to no promotional effort put into the Barthelemy v Mendez 2 event! We reimbursed you for the tickets but I remember JSFD going nuts looking online as to when the tickets went on sale a week bf the fight-- no clarity, a complete promotional disaster and it still managed to sell well!

You gotta love the myths you hear around here! It's hilarious "Cubans don't sell in Miami" derp a derp. Hear-say is a bitch.

We were all stumped, bro. "Mike Tyson Promotions" is a Mickey Mouse operation. I'm still at a loss as to how they handled that event. Sincerely, if they got that kind of turnout with the botched promotional job they put forth, Rigo could easily be expected to sell out a decent-sized arena in Miami. With the right promotion, of course. That "Cubans don't sell in Miami" crap is sheer nonsense. We've seen it for ourselves.
