I read an old Ring that said HBO wanted Mayweather to unify against Joel Casamayor and Mayweather refused. Apparently he did not like the style matchup. Funny but Mayweather probably would have won but he refused to fight a slick southpaw.

No. He litearally bought off his contract so he wouldn't fight him. They were set to fight in August of of 06.

Actually, he broke away from Arum to fight for the biggest payday of his life against a bigger man.

Right, because who would leave a $8 million purse to fight Margarito on the table to make a measly $25 million fighting the biggest star in boxing at the time Oscar De La Hoya??

If he went straight to DLH, you would be right but he still fought Baldomir for the same amount of money. Which says, he went with the money rather than the challenge = DUCK.

except he fought baldomir next. not oscar. also the hoya guarantee was only 10 million. if he fought margarito then oscar he probably gets a bigger guarantee since baldomir was a nobody. oh well the easy route as always.
