Sadly it's the usual, uneducated, moronic case of, "he ain't fought in the US, so he must be ****e"
For better or worse the United States and England are still the center of the boxing world. Boxing (not Muay Thai, Aikido or other martial arts) is an Anglo-American sport and the biggest fights are still held in those two countries.

Now we all see that boxing is spreading around the world and in a few years/decades there will be many centers of boxing as the popularity of the sport spreads and as broadcasting an event becomes easier and cheaper.

Still. Right now. The US (and to a lesser extent England) is the center of the boxing world regarding big fights. If you want to be known as a great basketball player you come to the NBA even though there are leagues around the world. Baseball has spread around the world and some leagues such as Japans have produced such great talent that playing in Japan is no longer considered a minor-league.

John, as did Calzaghe, have not faced the best in their division. It may be that they have a good thing going and are happy with it. Good for them. But as a fan I want to see the best 3 or 4 fighters in a division fight each other. When one fighter grabs a belt and doesn't fight other titlists I question their record.

    But maybe that's just me.

We heard about him, alright. We also watched how he went life&death with Stas Merdov back in 2011.

IDC who you've fought, it's pretty damn difficult to go 48-0. He is a pretty skilled fighter, mostly an outboxer counterpuncher who had a toss up with Marquez. Also had to fights with Juarez I forget which one almost got himself KTFO. Would love to see John vs Rigo or Donaire.

Yes. So would I. If he beats either one, even with a weight advantage, then we know he is for real.

How come I never heard of him until looking up boxrec? Plus the fact that he is near Marciano's record.
I haven't seen too many of his fights but he doesn't seem to have a "fan friendly" style and plus hes making good money right now. No reason to come here and possibly lose then lose out on money.

Those who "think Marquez won" didn't see the fight. It was attended by only 2 Western boxing writers. They both wrote that John won well. and won comfortably.

One was Scott Mallon of RING and he scored it 116-110 which was about what the judges had it. I think the other was Steve Kim who said he was there on a vacation and saw the fight. He had it about the same score.

I've written about this damn thing at least 3=4 times. it's about time these imbeciles got the message.

                    This is a good post.

The problem is, I think that people have a hard time understanding how a multi-weight, World champion like Pacquiao can't get past Marquez while a unknown Title holder like John can, an did.

It comes down to the styles, CJ is alot more technical an has a better range of skills (than Pac). He gets boxing behind a jab where a counter puncher like Marquez can't really set up to land anything hard or clean.
The main problem with Chris is that he has no real stopping power and always gasses in the 2nd half of his fights.
