  • SRR for me.

I stay off these threads cause I don't rank fighters I've never seen fight. I do agree though that they are ATG's and legends of the sport but I don't rank them. P4P is all opinion anyway so to each his own

    • It makes me laugh that there is an argument about Harry Greb, dude never gets enough credit though because most dudes go mostly by resume if you go by that metric Harry Greb deserves to be in the conversation.

He was a flat out stud that dominated his era, an era were there was a lot of boxing going on.

But hey you don't think he is the GOAT that is fine but he deserves mention along with a bunch of other cats both modern and past.

And if they were in the same era they would be claiming the same guy a fraud , its funny how history gets bigger and better over time with every captivating story from a writer , its strange that in every other competition including animals and people , the modern athlete's are faster , stronger and have broken all records ,,,

But not in boxing just ask teenage fans and the grass is always greener some other place because they know , I think there have been many great champions over the course of history and if they all fought each other you would have different results on different nights , to say categorically one is the best ever , Id like to see who would bet their life on that claim , not me that's for sure I don't think there is greatest of all .

On a more serious note, Muhammad Ali is the greatest imo. It's more than just resume and skills, there's a reason everyone on the planet label Ali as the greatest. After all, he's the one being compared to Pele, Michael Jordan etc, not Robinson and Leonard. Of course, I have nothing against opinions of SRR being the the GOAT.

          • No one in the last 40 years. Because boxers fight less, the depth of talent isn't what it used to be, and it's too easy for boxers to avoid the top challenges. I'm a great admirer of Mayweather and think he's definitely the best since Duran and Leonard, but he doesn't deserve a whisper of a mention when it come to GOAT consideration.

            • The greatest of all time, not this time or that time, full time or part time, but of all time has to be without a shadow of doubt Sir Joe Calzaghe. Now stick that in pipes and smoke it b1tches!

No but seriously...I say Ali. A strong case can be made for SRR but I'll stick with what I know. Like many regard Pele as the best football (soccer) player to ever live, I think Ali can be given the same praise since he transcended the sport of boxing and made it global. Not many people can dream of achieving something similar hence for me he is the GOAT.

              • In terms of greatness there are only two legitimate candidates, Robinson or Armstrong. Robinson.

I disagree respectfully, but big time. Langford and Grebs names must be thrown in there. To a slightly lesser degree Ezzard Charles.

And you opinion is worth more than his because the storys you read had more impact on your persona , only thing is its all got nothing to do with whats real and more about what took your fancy .

                    • floyd dominated canelo via catchweight and he suddenly becomes part of goat discussion

before that fight, these floyd buttlickers didn't dare to declare floyd as the goat except for some extreme nuthuggers. after beating canelo...boom floyd is the goat.

amazing how beating a fighter of canelo's caliber, in a catchweight at that, can elevate you to goat status
