I really dont understand this argument that seems to be popping up. Is having video footage a requirement to be considered one of the sports greatest now?

What if there was no footage of SRR?

Being recorded or not has no bearing on the resume these legends have.

It just doesn't make any sense at all. Unless of course, you're saying that several first hand reports, etc for these fights should be thrown out of the window. I hope you aren't though

As for the topic, i'd probably say Robinson too - I really wish there was more footage of him at 147 just so I could see him at his best (he can't be considered GOAT without that footage, right?). But my personal favourite fighter, who i'll always consider the best, is Roy Jones JR - but obviously has nothing to do with achievements etc

    • If we're talking about snakes...Canelo has to be up there with his ATG Snake. Dude is only 5'7" 1/2!!!

      • I can't believe some people want an active fighter to be the goat so bad. None qualify..

        • Roberto Duran!

However, I would not argue with anyone that says SRR.

Agree except for the "slightly lesser degree" part. I rate Charles above both Armstrong and Langford.

if someone was alive during that era and has seen them fight then he can call that certain fighter the greatest but you cant just go off descriptions of someone and call them the greatest. seeing is believing

So we can only crown our own GOAT from only what we've seen? That's beyond ridiculous.

I wasn't around when Ali knocked out Foreman, but I sure as hell know he did it before I actually got round to seeing it.

"Seeing is believing" is just another one of those bland quotes you stick in to a NSB post to try make it sound better. In reality, it's saying nothing though.

It really is a strange argument to be making

                • Robinson, Langford, or Greb. I don't think anyone else is even in the conversation. Everyone else is playing for 4.

well it is my opinion I stick to it, anyway how sure are you that John Ruiz could beat Jimmy Wilde 7 out 10???

being bigger does not guarantee a win, heck ruiz will gas out in a few rounds of trying to land a punch on a flyweight...

OK, so is David Tua greater than Jimmy Wilde or Eder Jofre?
