I recall Lucas landing some pretty solid shots in the first half, but I haven't had a chance to rewatch it yet. FWIW, you should keep in mind that the compubox numbers showed that Lucas was landing at a 36% rate (where he was also at after 12) after 6, while Danny was landing at 24%. Compubox also had Matthysse landing 22 more shots than Garcia. Garcia was also more busy (not less as you claim) than Matthysse through 6 according to the compubox numbers.

Danny definitely won it at in the last half and I think we all have to respect the adjustments he made. He also has a very good chin. I think a rematch may be warranted down the line depending on how things play out, but I would like to see both fighters move on for the time being.

**** that. No rematch! If the roles were reversed, none of you would be talking about a rematch had it been Mr. Swift that took the L plus a fractured orbital. But because people's 'new Pacquaio' lost, all the sore losers wanna rematch. **** that.

Like Angel Garcia once said, 'why go back to old shoes you throw up on the cord?'

Who made that eye swell? Why don't you follow Lucas's lead and just give Garcia the props he deserves? If Lucas could have beat Danny then he would have. I knew Garcia would win as soon as people started talking about this fight happening and some other core Garcia fans and we were the out casts on here but when you know the deal then you know the deal. Matthysse had a lot of band wagon fans caught up with his ability to score KO's. They predicted a total thrashing in his favor but once Garcia whupped his butt. Now all you have are excuses from the same posters who called it one sided in Lucas favor.

Danny then started to use quick combinations to befuddle and eventually hurt Matthysse. The crowd ooooooo'd and ahhhhhhhhh'd Danny's punches because they were landing clean. Even when Lucas knocked Danny's mouthpiece out in round 11, Danny put Matthysse down in the 11th to seal the deal. Clear win for Garcia and no need for a rematch. The rematch is still 50/50-my ass!
Fixed it for you. Rematch ain't 50/50 bruh. Danny is the smarter of the two and can adjust better. He has Matthysse's #. Matthysse can't beat Garcia on power alone. He has to be smarter as a fighter but as we witness each time. Danny Garcia gets better and more rounded. Rematch would be easier for Danny. Matthysse can't hurt him but Garcia can hurt Matthysse.

So if both fighters are still competing at a high level in a few years (and Lucas has shown some improvement) then you would be against it? Notice how I said it may be warranted depending on how things play out. I don't think there should be an immediate rematch or one within the next year unless Matthysse beats one of the top guys at 147 in a convincing manner.

I think you should re-read that paragraph more carefully because he wasn't disagreeing with you.

I would say Danny has a better than a 50/50 shot in a rematch unless Lucas makes some fairly significant improvements, but I do think Lucas stunned Danny a few times. Danny reacted the right way though and definitely has a very good chin. I also wouldn't say based on one fight that it isn't possible for Matthysse to hurt Garcia. There have been rematch instances where guys have been able to hurt or knockdown opponents they weren't really able to previously. Recently, Marquez demonstrated this against Pacquiao. I'm not comparing Matthysse to Marquez as a technician, but I wouldn't write him off completely.

I agree that Matthysse looked lost after his eye started to swell and Danny didn't seemed to be fazed by his power. It should definitely be a learning experience for him and it looks like Lucas is taking it as that.

I can't speak for others (I respected Danny, but I still thought Matthysse would win), but I think many didn't respect/like Danny before the fight primarily because Angel says some very disrespectful stuff. You also have to take into account that he hasn't won many of his fights in a dominant fashion, so he looked beatable. Danny proved a lot of people wrong and he is continuing to improve, so I expect some big things from him in the future. He should be considered the favorite against most of the fighters in the WW division.
The late Manny Steward said that Danny doesn't do any one thing great, but that he does everything good, and that Danny just keeps on winning. Great words.

I actually meant to write Danny instead of Matthysse Grus...

That's Nice Matthysee...Now Go Take A Nap; You Really Disappointed Saturday Night

Sure, let's talk about how well someone studied you, showed to be smarter and more of a champion that you were. I really thought Matthysee had arrived after his destruction of Peterson, but he looked this past Saturday Night no better than a Paulie Mags. Lucas took several steps back. I didn't really feel Garcia did a lot, didn't think his punching power looked to overwhelming, just really saw the fight as not so much what Garcia did, and what Matthysee didnt do... I see why Garcia was the underdog once again; he really is not that special, that dynamic. I say Garcia needs to line up Robert Guerrero.
