This is where I am. I couldn't pick a winner cause i knew this fight was 50/50. However I was satisfied with the way Danny did his thing. He looked like a young light skinned B-Hop in there. He showed skills a fighter his age usually does not have.

But it was hard to watch Lucas get beat and busted up. Especially considering he didn't get Lamont's belt from that brutal destruction he handed that guy.

took a lot if **** from the gALTcia fans after the fight even though I was one of the few Matthysse fans that spent his time analyzing the fight instead of trashing Garcia, I even said I thought it was a 60/40 fight where Danny's skills could win

I will tell all the Garcia fans that Matthysse is still my favorite fighter in boxing, IMO he can beat everyone at 140 and a Garcia rematch is a 50/50 fight in my eyes but Garcia did what he had to do to earn a close decision

Meh, Dannys a fighter, and ultimately the difference lies in the fact that danny could take matthysses power. You can't learn a chin from watching film.

This is true. Danny's chin survived Lucas' monster shots in the 2nd and the first half of the 3rd.

Matthysse threw a lot of punches, but he was not landing clean. The difference in this fight imo was clearly who hit who more, and cleaner. Danny's punches landed cleaner. Matthysse's hit arms and shoulders and gloves. Matthysse started to lunge, and he eventually got caught. When his eye started to swell, fight over!

Matthysse couldn't change his style up. Most fans respected Matthysse's effort. It's unfortunate that nobody respected Danny before this fight and are now asking that we respect Matthysse rather than give Danny FT props. They say Danny got lucky, Danny had a great game plan, and in the same sentence say, "if Matthysse's eye didn't swell up" he would've won. Foh

As we all knew both fighters' styles, the key factors were: 1) Danny's chin; 2) the fighters' ability in effectively using their left hands.

Danny mastered these two key factors and displayed additional skills and (dirty) tricks.
As I said before, Lucas was too candid for such a fight -- that is why he would not press for a rematch.

Props to Danny. His stock definitely rose in my eyes and this was by far his best and most significant win.
Not fair considering how everybody looked down on him in the Khan fight and how he was a huge underdog there.... but I think this win is better because he actually beat Matthysse and dropped him.
