Garcia vs Matthysse Rematch?

Their absolutely needs to be a rematch. It was a back and forth fight with each guy winning a rd or two and the other guy doing the same in turn. The eye controversy also helps out. Matthysse dominated the 2 rds before the eye problem. Eye took the steam out of that big time.

GTFO with 'eye controversy' the is boxing **** like that happens all the time. It's called accuracy power punching. Had it been the other way around you cheerleaders wouldn't think anything less.

I'd love to see one, given the fact that Matthysse's eye swelling shut really took a lot of steam out of what was shaping up to be a tremendous fight, but I doubt we'll see it.

What took the steam out of fight were the constant lowblows, and clenching by Garcia. It really was on par with Mares vs Agbeko in terms of uncalled low blows.

Also, fairly unsportsmanship like conduct for Danny to keep throwing after he pushed Matthysse between the ropes. Danny went through the ropes, and Matthysse didn't take any cheap shots. It was legal, but combined with the lowblows, it goes to show the lack of character he has.

I still think the fight was a Draw. I was also baffled at how bad the Shotime production staff was at setting up Replays. Only punches landed by Garcia seemed to get any airtime.

I give props to Garcia for being better than what I thought of him. But saying that if it wasn't for that bull**** knockdown Matthysse would have won the fight.

Garcia has got to be the luckiest boxers in history. First Matthyse's eye closes then he continually lowblowed him through the fight and only gets one point taken away from him. The ref gives him a breather when Matthysse put his mouthpiece on P diddys lap and to top it off he gets a bull**** knockdown which gave him the 2 points he needed to win.

A rematch is a must.

I agree, the ref is suppose to stop at a lul in the action, which there was none. Danny was on ***** street, he didn't have any idea where he was when weeks was telling him to go to the corner.

Mattysse more than likely would have finished him if he hadn't been given that break.

earn it, dog. i don't mind if he gets one down the line, but matthysse's performance did not neccessitate an immediate remtach.

he didn't do well. i'll put together a better scorecard when i'm not several rows back, but matthysse landed very few clean punches to my eyes. the fight really wasn't all that competitive, certainly not to the level that it deserves an immediate rematch.

if it wasn't lucas matthysse, would people be calling for it? would they want a rematch right awat for danny if the roles were reversed? i doubt it. they'd be saying that matthysse is gonna knock out floyd mayweather, rofl

Im not sure what fight you were watching, but the fight was very competitive. There were 2 rounds after Mattysses eye swelled up that Garcia was unloading the left pretty effectively, but after that Things evened back out again as he startted tagging Danny.

That's insane IMO, but people score it differently.

115-112, 115-113 type of fight with Danny winning.

I think it's different fight without the eye swelling.

Also, havent seen many people mention this, but when Matthysse knocked the Mouthpiece out, and the ref stopped the fight, Garcia didn't appear to know where he was. Ref took to long and let Danny recover.

That was the first thing I said. Danny had NO idea where he was. He was done. If Lucas had that chance to finish him that he deserved, he would have done so.

Danny was in BIG trouble, and bought himself 20-30 seconds to recover.

Would love to see a rematch, I feel the eye swelling played a major part but it came from a punch so I take nothing away from Garcia there.

Would love a rematch and this time with a referee who isn't going to allow over 100 clinches & near 30 lowblows. I didn't think that was a knockdown either.

Take nothing away from Danny he got the job done and showed a lot he hasn't before. He looked world class for once.

There is no reason for a rematch. Danny beat your boys ass. Yeah, that was a knockdown. The body shot and head shots put him down. Nobody wants to see a rematch now. Danny proved he was the superior fighter. Eat your crow like we did when we picked against Rigo.
