In all honesty (trolling aside), I think you can never really go wrong betting on Floyd but this is the kind of a fight that just oozes upset. That could be either due to a KO or a close ("controversial") decision.
There are a lot of things at play in this fight. Mayweather brings in a TON of money to Vegas, he has the skills to evade Canelo's onslaught and win by decision, he is the established fighter...the name fighter, so things could go his way if it's close..........he isn't gooing to KO Canelo, I'm not sure what the hell these people are talking about with that stuff.
On the other hand, Showtime HAS to pay Floyd a ton of money for each and every fight he is in with no guarantee that he will make them a profit. This fight, a rematch of this fight, or a Pac fight are really the only fights that will ensure Showtime comes out on the winning end. Of course there could be the winner of the Lucas-Danny fight but that winner would have to win in IMPRESSIVE fashion (KO) to drum up enough interest. This leaves a very big possibility of a "crooked" decision if this fight is fairly close with the appearance that Floyd should win, yet Canelo earning a SD victory. This would guarantee a rematch and tons of money for Showtime.
Then you have the dynamic of Canelo being the "next PPV star" on the horizon, already under the Showtime banner, and I'm positive Showtime would rather pay Canelo 8-12 million a PPV fight than 32+ million a fight for Floyd. They would be guaranteed to make plenty off of every single Canelo PPV they sponsor.
So, I'm feeling like Canelo will be Floyd's toughest fight of his career and there are things out there that could make it better for the stakeholders if Canelo were to win.
I'm personally going to put some money on a draw without a doubt. The odds will be highly favorable and the outcome is more than a possibility. You are talking maybe 21:1 odds or so. $10.00 could net you $210.00 and even if you you lose, it's not a big loss....hypothetically speaking.
The obvious bet would be Floyd by decision...not so good odds but a fairly comfortable safety net.
It all depends how much of a dog Canelo is on a decision win. I think Canelo will hurt Mayweather but so did Mosley and Floyd recovered. Floyd has bitten just about as much as he can chew in this fight but I think he has the resilience to go the distance and survive if he gets shocked by something. This leaves it to the matter of is it worth placing the sport of boxing on Floyd's shoulders or Canelo's? Who knows, but Canelo has tremendous upside and Floyd is costing his network a ton of money with limited options for the future and boxing is no stranger to "corrupt" decisions.
Most likely, $10-$20 on a draw......over $100.00 on Floyd by decision (they still may rematch it it's only a SD win for Floyd because of the money to be made)...but I'll have to see what the prop odds are.
Floyd always seems to get the benefit of the doubt so no matter how much I think Canelo will put it on him, Floyd by decision always feels right but his road is at the end......this much I hope everyone is sure of or should be if they are paying attention. If it's not age that gets him, it's going to be his love for money...the network (s) will toss him aside for a better deal and Canelo is looking like a hell of a steal right now.
The only thing I don't acccept is that Mayweather gets $32 mill per fight plus. We are all forgetting that the agreement, like ALL agreements over contracts and money, especially in boxing, is CONFIDENTIAL and undisclosed. The figures thrown around are purely speculation to sell news. And...assuming for a moment that Phoney Phloyd is actually getting a "guarantee" of $32 mill. (remember his own famous guarantee of $32 mill which he guaranteed to himself, basically taking money from one pocket and putting it on the other) I'd bet that at least half of it is guaranteed by himself to make the PR bumpf sound better.... and then they "leak" so-called "info"... He always has to "appear" to be the best at everything.
Forbes and the others just don't KNOW, they are going on what "reports" the dredge up from the ooze. I saw a hilarious "breakdown' of a purported $41.5 million purse for this fight, it was truly a very adventurous report. It may turn out to be accurate, but nobody can tell in advance, and only those involved and the IRS (and I'm not even sure about them) will ever know.

Mayweather has always been this way, always trying to get the advantage no matter the circumstances. Which is why I stopped being a fan. If hes not cheating you on the scales, sucker punching, ducking all risks, cherry picking or trying to turn his opponents into walking skeletons. He's lying and being a hypocrite.

If you want a shot at the P4P King, you go to his weight class. He doesn't go to you. Kudos to Floyd for making this fight possible.

All this time Mr. Saul Alvarez said that the weight issue isn't a problem, that he came at 153 for the Trout fight, etc...
It was obvious that there was a negotiation over the weight, and it was even said in the media...
Besides there was no re-hydration limit clause involved...
Now why all this fuss?
(Anyway, FMJr will have to fight a super middleweight on Saturday... That's a fact.)Last edited by MDPopescu; 09-11-2013, 03:35 AM.
