It is about the catchweight. The minute Canelo loses, or let's say gets KO'd, those same fans will attribute that to Canelo being drained. That's why it would've been better if there was no catchweight. It gives the masses of haters a loaded ******* to use for excuses as for why Canelo loses or gets stopped.

But again, my point is, Canelo should've just remained silent. It's pointless talking about a disadvantage you accepted.

1. Canelo offered to go down to 150lb.
2. He signed the contract.
3. I don't actually agree with the catchweight.

If it wasn't a title fight I perhaps wouldn't care so much, I'd take it for what it is and hope that Canelo's performance doesn't suffer. However I think the Lineal title is on the line, that displeases me as it cheats the record books.

WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) explained the background behind the agreed-upon catch-weight for Saturday's fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The two boxers will collide at a weight of 152-pounds.

According to Canelo, Mayweather first requested 147, and then went up to 150, and then 151 - and at that point Canelo countered and said he was willing to shed two pounds in order to make the fight happen.

I'm really looking forward to this fight. The only thing I have to say about the whole catchweight business is this, your stance should be the same as it was when Pacquiao and Cotto fought. If it isn't, you're as big a hypocrite as Mayweather over catchweights and Pacquiao over more stringent drug testing.

Canelo won his paper title at 154 against a welterweight. Three of his title defenses at 154 were against......you guessed it... welterweights.

If he want to fight welterweights go down in weight. If he want to be a real 154 pound fighter you had chances to fight Kirkland, Molina, Lara and Angulo.

Dude should just be happy he's getting scholarship money to get a boxing lesson Saturday night.

LOL, You can't be serious, I'm sure. He beat the best 154 pound fighter in the world in Austin Trout (you conveniently left him out of your post). He had fights set up to go against Williams...fell through, Kirkland.....fell through and Angulo if I'm not mistaken. This fight is for both of their 154 pound belts...so why is this fight at 152 again?

Why did Floyd have a 154 pound title yet beat upon smaller 147 pounders that moved up from feather weight like Guerrero?
