If they brought Gesta up bad, that sucks. Whatever is to blame, the fact remains that Mercito is mediocre. He was more concerned about how he looked on camera versus Vazquez than with actually winning the fight. Make an effort, man! Gesta would've lost anyway, but he might've re-signed with Top Rank if he fought with some urgency.gesta is notorious for taking his foot off the pedal. In his fights leading up to Vasquez he'd start okay then go flat until the end.... Its a reccuring problem. Im just. Saying they brought him up in a horrible way.... Making a canyon leap in competition
I think it was the cuerro and Burnett fightsComment

Yea, dude is mediocre and never made strives to work on his crap stamina. If they brought Gesta up bad, that sucks. Whatever is to blame, the fact remains that Mercito is mediocre. I was excited at one point, but it dropped off over time. When I heard he was going to fight Vasquez... I knew it was going to be a white wash... I honestly have no idea how he even won rounds on those cards.
He should try and get back on FNF ( I dont' remember who he was with before then).
A Ji Hoon Kim fight would be interesting.
At this point.... might as well sign with GBP. Might not get coddled as well, but he'll be in for some rough fightsComment

Honestly, man, when I see a guy like Gesta, I can't help but think that they're wasting time with boxing. I understand that it's fun and exciting, but they're prime years someone could be devoting to another career, or a decent job. A so-so fighter barely makes a living. By the time he finally wakes up and realizes he's just not that talented (if he ever does), so much valuable time has passed him by.Yea, dude is mediocre and never made strives to work on his crap stamina.

This!
It wasn't just one bad performance as some are implying. This guy was being hyped as "Baby Pacquiao" and "The next Pacquiao" so I started watching his fights with people praising him so highly. In his 3 fights prior to Vasquez he fought almost exactly the same. Low output and little movement anywhere. I remember thinking right away, "this guy is like the polar opposite of Pacquiao."Comment

He made some good money from the Vasquez fight... that's about it though.Honestly, man, when I see a guy like Gesta, I can't help but think that they're wasting time with boxing. I think he was a Philippine native though and it got him out of there... so he got that going for him.
If anything... he should try and cash out and then go looking for another job, but I see him taking on those small fights again until he can get another big shot.
If he's lucky, he can sign with GBP and add depth to their rosters..maybe feed him to FigoComment
