Former world title challenger Mercito Gesta has been dropped by Top Rank, according to his former manager and trainer, Vince Parra.

“I got the note from Top Rank after his fight with Olusegun [Ajose] fell through,” Parra said. “Our contract ended in April, but I still got him the Olusegun fight. His father [Anecito] wanted to take over as far as training and managing him after that, so I stepped aside. Top Rank cleaning things up a bit today, Bomba Gonzalez and Gesta. Gesta does not appear to be that talented a fighter though.

Gesta was garbage, he basically stood there and let Vazquez run circles around him, he knew how Vazquez fights he runs and and hits really ugly but he just stood there you have to fight him with pressure.

Gesta needs to go back to Kickboxing or do MMA, the guy has potential but he is not mentally strong. He doesn't have that Pacquiao hunger, this why no filipino boxer can be like Pacman dude was just special his desire his hunger to win in the ring is unmatched. Gesta didn't have that hunger dude made Arum upset, Arum was boasting about this kid only for him to lose in one of the most boring uneventful lightweight title bouts I ever seen.
