Well Mayweather is a predator in that regard, if he sees an opening, a chance at victory, or opportunity to take advantage he will take it; just ask Victor Ortiz.

Vid: Ellerbe claims an article on BoxingScene is what made the fight a Catchweight

Mayweather and his team are phony liars. They always have been and they always will be. Nothing new here. Team Mayweather first wanted to fight Canelo at 147. Fighting Canelo below 154 was all Mayweather and his team's idea. Why the hell would Canelo want to handicap himself by fighting even one ounce below 154?

Thanks Manny for your poor decision making, because you may have just created the highest grossing PPV fight of all time...

Nobody put a gun to Canelo's head (at least I don't think so) to force the fight. He could have just said he wanted it at 154. Does anybody really think Floyd would pass up $40m for 2 measly pounds?
That being said, it's neither the first nor the last time a fighter uses his negotiation leverage.
Ray Leonard was infamous for that as is wellknown.
It even goes way back further.Oldest example I can recall is when Battling Nelson defended his LW belt against Joe Gans back in about 1906 where he used leverage to force 3 separate weigh-ins on the day of the fight where the last was in full fighting gear at ringside. Those demands was made because Gans was presumed to be struggling at the weight.
It didn't matter though, as the old master won via DQ after 42 rounds having thouroughly outboxed the durable dane.

This is hypocrisy at its finest.

Can anyone refer me to what specifically on this site he is referring to? Is it even true?
At the end of the day, if FLoyd was willing to do 154 like Ellerbe says he only damaged his own prospective victory as everyone will claim Canelo was drained.
Edit: checked the article, it wasn't as specific as I remembered itLast edited by Weebler I; 08-30-2013, 11:16 AM.

I really don't understand the problem, Alvarez is huge, he's massive, while Floyd could easily get down to 140 if not 135, he's been giving up weight for years now so I don't know where you haters expect him to draw the line. Cotto was a former light welter who hasn't got the natural size Alvarez has so it didn't matter so much that fight was at 154.
Floyd haters really are ****in idiots. I can't wait to hear what you lot are gonna ***** about once he's gone.
