Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, manager and trainer of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, advised BoxingScene.com that his boxer is 100% ready for the biggest names in boxing - Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Alvarez (39-0-1, 29KOs) is willing to come down to 150-pounds for a fight with Mayweather (43-0, 26KOs), who is scheduled to return on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Reynoso told BoxingScene that Canelo doesn't need an interim-fight, he is ready to go directly into a Mayweather fight.
If Mayweather is unable to secure Manny Pacquiao, a fight with Canelo on "Cinco De Mayo' weekend is the biggest secondary option from a financial point of view.
"We believe that every title fight is a big fight. But if you're asking about the biggest names [Mayweather and Pacquiao], we believe that we're ready for those fights. We don't need to have any interim fights. We're ready to go directly into those matches," Reynoso told BoxingScene.com.
