The thing with the older generation is that we look back on them with rosé tinted spectacles.

The further away we get from a fighters generation the better we believe them to have been.

We have had some fantastic fighters through this generation but nostalgia always has us yearning for past fighters to the detrement of those we have today.

No when I look back I see ATG fighters beating other ATG fighters in their primes.

Floyd is genuinely a top 10 talent, but that doesn't matter when it wasn't always tested against the best.

Fighters can only fight in the era they're existing in. Personally, I think comparing fighters from different eras and trying to rate them is impossible and borderline ******. That's why I'm not really into all-time lists in any sport. Athletes get better as time goes on. Jim Brown wouldn't be near the physical marvel he was back in the 60s if he played today and probably wouldn't be as productive. That said, I still call him the best RB ever. See where I'm going with it?

I disagree, but no need to argue the issue. The fight is pretty much meaningless at this point. And based on what I have to go on, I place Floyd ahead of Manny in the best of the era.

WHAT A JOKE! Mayweather is not even top 20 on a all time greats list and he is ahead of Sugar Ray Leonard give me a break. Mayweather is such a coward that he is going to fight a fighter in a division where he already has a title in at a catch weight.

I don't agree with most of their top ten. It looked more like a popularity conest among young fans with little knowledge of great fighters of the past except the extremely well known ones like Duran, Leonard, Robinson and Ali. Mayweather is great of course but I would not rank him in the top ten. His high ranking might take a nose dive in about 16 days. Joe is a good fighter but he does not belong in the top 10 of all time.

Outside of heavyweight, that problem doesn't exist with boxing. Football players get bigger, faster stronger, as do basketball players and baseball players and hockey players and every other sport.

In boxing, a man weighing 160 pounds is a man weighing 160 pounds, no matter how many years pass. And if you try to argue that fighters today have more technique or something, you're wrong.

The GOAT does not duck anyone, take Ali , Never Ducked a fighter, Joe Louis never ducked a fighter, George Foreman never ducked a fighter and should be in the top ten

Jr has NOT fought a threat in over 8 years

Jr is fighting his first threat Sept 14th and can possibly lose this fight

What we have here folks is a boom in fans thru the internet young inexperienced fans that have no knowledge of past fighters like Cassius Clay who was the epitome of a fighter and ACE one who has the ability the punch and gameness plus take a tremendous shot

JR has snaked his way thru the past 8 years with retirements and ducking the elites of the day, like Pac, Cotto, Margo Martinez etc..........

Young kids have put him there, means NOTHING, WILL ALWAYS BE BLEMISHED for his ducking vacations and retirements etc........
