Beating great opposition, overcoming adversity, showing a fighter's heart when in dire need of it, taking on all comers and sending them packing, DUCKING NO ONE are just some of the attributes of being an ATG.

It is positively mindboggling to me how Floyd Mayweather Jr could be placed even in the top 10, much less the top 30 when there were so many more great fighters who proved themselves a thousand times over what Mayweather has even come close do doing.

He hasn't even proven himself the true best of his era! How the blue hell can he be placed top 3 since boxing became an organized sport?!

    NFW!!
Floyd has easily proven himself to be the best of his era. People simply penalize him because he's a jerk.

But the list is very bad. This era hasn't been that good really just look at all the old bastards on the p4p list,

sure mayweather is the best of the era, but top 30 ?!

And I do agree that he has fought big names at a great advantage to himself (JMM springs to mind), and he has yes also massively ducked out of any potential showdown with Pacquiao.

However, the guys he's fought and beat (a lot of the time quite easily) is very impressive. The guy is nearly impossible to hit clean.

I believe he is without doubt a top 30 ATG but has the skills to be even higher, the fact that he ducked Pacquiao and fought older versions of solid World level operators is why he isn't top 15 -20.
Why is it that the boxing world have pretty much accepted that a GBP fighter can't be matched with a Top Rank fighter in every situation except Floyd-Manny?

Because those two are more powerful than the promoters. If they really wanted to fight each other, they could. But they don't.

The thing with the older generation is that we look back on them with rosé tinted spectacles.

The further away we get from a fighters generation the better we believe them to have been.

We have had some fantastic fighters through this generation but nostalgia always has us yearning for past fighters to the detrement of those we have today.

Fighters can only fight in the era they're existing in. Personally, I think comparing fighters from different eras and trying to rate them is impossible and borderline ******. That's why I'm not really into all-time lists in any sport. Athletes get better as time goes on. Jim Brown wouldn't be near the physical marvel he was back in the 60s if he played today and probably wouldn't be as productive. That said, I still call him the best RB ever. See where I'm going with it?
