Rahman and McCall exposed Lennox's weak chin, his resume was very overated and he was in fact a very beatable champion. His losses to Rahman and McCall proved it. Winning the rematch doesn't erased that the fact that he lost his Championship twice by way of brutal KO to less than stellar opposition.

Pac lost to Torrecampo and Singsigurat early in his career before he hit his prime and started working with Roach and Ariza. I think he was 16 and 19 years old respectively.

Mares (28) was no green prospect, he was well in his prime when he when he got brutalized by Gonzalez.

he was exposed because of how he lost the fight. not BECAUSE he lost the fight. use some critical thinking and actually analyze the situation, instead of boiling it down to "HE YOUNG DOE, LOST TO A GOOD VET"

      response?

      simple answer, yes or no.

Okay,so he lost a fight...big deal. He'll still beat Rigo. He got caught.Anyone who ever spent more than 5 minutes in a ring, got hurt.Anyone who says that they didn't was fighting thier little kids or lying.

Szef99 was wondering why I didn't have Mares in my top 10 P4P list too ?

Mares is a very good fighter who should bounce back nicely.I like WAR Mares a lot but he is not top 10 P4P list material, not even close right now.Rebuild then take rematch.

It's okay to lose in boxing going out on your sheild, rebuid and get better Abner.

How can anyone claim Mares was being marinated? How?? The guy fought nothing but tough/hard fights back to back!

          Anyways...back to the topic.

What do y'all say? Will Mares bounce back and come back stronger? Or, will he be mentally ruined after his first devastating KO loss?

Mares is a great fighter but Jhonny has his card and can pull it any time he wants. It's just one of those things, Jhonny beats him 10 times out of 10.

Mares is far from done or ruined, he'll come back strong.

Never rated him as highly as a lot of others seem to and its a tough loss but he is still young and can come again.

I feel a lot slept on Gonzalez and you'd have to of been pretty crazy to not give him a punchers chance at least.

Gonzo can really crack. Surprised Mares even got up from that first knockdown tbf

This is your P4P list. Is there anything else you want to add?

He'll be fine. He's a damn good fighter who finally bit off more than he can chew. Hopefully this tells him he should move back down, he's too small for featherweight.

What makes you say that? I'm curious. I don't think Gonzalez did anything special, except land a HUGE left hook, if Mares tightens up that defence and keeps his hands up, he really shouldn't have problems in a rematch, unless he is too small for the weight. This is the exact reason I didn't like the prospect of a Garcia match up, Mares would have been schooled.

I've never been fully sold on Mares, as anyone who has seen my comments before this fight, people were trying to compare him with Donaire which is ridiculous. Mares is a good action fighter with solid technical ability but at 5'4'' he may need to stay at superbantam. There he can bully opponents with his natural strength. But I do hope Mares comes back, he is still at his peak, he hasn't taken a beating and there are still enough opponents at superbantam or fw to really build himself back up.

just my opinion bro, if there's a rematch i'll bet you 5 billies that Jhonny knocks him out again.

                    Gonzalez has his card.

Mares will bounce back. I don't think he should do a rematch though. Not because I don't think Mares could win. But if he loses again in the same fashion, that will set him back even more. I always thought Mares gets hit too easy. I thought De Leon would be the one to give him his first L but he handled himself well. Still thought the fight was stopped too early but Mares was well on his way to winning.
