He is a borderline ATG for me , he has an exciting style when he fights offensive fighters . he is a good contender but he only has 2 significant wins against Pacquiao and Diaz , he lost to Chris John too, He lost to Barrera , it was one of the worst robberies I have ever seen . , Mayweather toyed with him , Morales would kill him in the ring , I expect Bradley to UD him , .....


Whenever I read the name Marquez , I remember Norton who is still arguing he won all his 3 fights against Ali today .

Marquez = small Norton

All his career and legacy will be revolving around ATG Pacquiao " I defeated Pacquiao , let me teach you how to beat pacquiao , I won all my fights against pacquiao , .... "

Norton never knocked Ali out cold in six rounds mate. Big difference.

Barrera/Marquez was one of the worst robberies you've ever seen? Ever?

Man, to rate that fight not just high on your 'boxing robbery' list, but as a robbery at all, on any level, you must have been watching boxing for decades and seen hundreds of robberies, because nothing compares to that for sheer one sidedness going the wrong way! Roy Jones/Park Si Hun, Chavez/Whitaker, Louis/Walcott, Pac/Bradley, Ottke/Reid, Ramirez/Whitaker, Fenech/Nelson, Lewis/Holyfield, eat your heart out! They ain't got **** on Barrera/Marquez.

So, what happened when Pac fought Sanchez? He could only sc**** by with a draw, and it was a very lucky draw at that. He would have lost if not for points deducted from Sanchez.

What about when he nearly got stopped, probably would have if not for ref intervention, against Nedal Hussein.

What about when he did get stopped, twice, by Torrecampo and Singsurat? Singsurat close to John's level, but Torrecampo? Most think Marquez won too. Pac got KTFO. Twice. Now thrice.

Let's talk other ATG's too.
Wilfred Benitez should have lost to Curry.
Roberto Duran lost to Kirkland Laing.
Chavez lost to Randall.
Lennox Lewis lost to Rahman.
Klitschko lost to Ross Purrity.
Alexis Arguello lost to Vilomar Fernandez.

Marvin Hagler lost to Willie Monroe.

Most thought Marquez won the fight, even with the point deductions against him and a dodgy ref.

So, he lost a close fight that most thought he should have won against a guy that hasn't lost a fight in his entire career, has the second most defenses of any featherweight titlist ever, has the second longest reign of any featherweight titlist ever and is among the longest reigning champions today.

Pac got KTFO out by a dude that got knocked out by a local janitors favourite punching bag.

I think the difference is that those guys on that last fought better overall opposition than Marquez. Again, I think the Manny fights made him but it's not enough of a resume to make him an all time great. Hall of famer? yes.

I think he should have at a minimum 2 wins over PAC (he smoked him in the third fight that was an all time robbery) and I could easily argue he could have won the other 2, and he beat John that was a joke fight.
