Rigondeaux doesn't feel he is getting the proper support since beating Nonito Donaire earlier this year. Rigondeaux's return has yet to be finalized, but Donaire is already booked to return on HBO on November 9th.

        • Unless you're someone with a name like Marquez, Khan, Maidana, etc., it's not really advisable to piss off Arum or any promoter for that matter. Look at what happened to Gamboa. The guy probably had many bouts of hunger in his current existence. Rigo is just as insignificant as a fly to Arum.

Isn't this the REAL issue? The way it should work is: Arum does not come through the fighter leaves, but Arum, like King will never let that happen. He will ruin this man's career before letting him have a chance. Arum like King is a spiteful, sociopathic self centered individual who will do anything for self benefit despite the consequences for others.

Agreed with all that but he doesn't bring the bucks, people ultimately don't want to see him box. Who's fault is that? Sometimes the customer is right. What's Arum supposed to do with that? No promoter on Earth could make Rigo an attractive quantity. He couldn't even pull the trigger on Donaire when Donaire was one eyed and obviously defensive.

              • Rigo just needs to either get the American passport or be more vulnerable Gweilo/Gringo/Gaijin/Muzungu/Falang to earn more respect and money on the American soil !!

What a joke when Mayweather , with his super-exciting style , is the number one American boxer !!

                and Number 2 ? ..... Ward !!
                and Number 3 ? ..... Hopkins !!

                O.o

One cannot change Cubans' and Russians' styles -- their "national" schools of boxing inprinted patterns are too strong...
Arum should let Rigo go elsewhere.

                  • Totally agree. A champion destroys the previous years fighter of the year. Shows you that if Donate had fought Rigo the previous year he wouldnt be P4P or fighter of the year. Fighting midgets with no skillsmakes you look alt better than you are. Arum is or maybe was a great promoter. HBO and arum should be promoting Rigo and filling the void that Floyd left. Whoever heard of a promoter as powerful as Arum killing his own fighters career. Rigo on acquaint undergrad in Micau would been great exposure and a great way to show your fighter your trying to build his brand.

This is disgusting of HBO and ARUM to be killing a possible ATG career while he's in his prime and wasting to fight whomever is brave enough to challenge him. If with Golden then he's dusting off Mares.

                    • Rigondeaux has every right to feel this way but I wouldn't have gone this route, if I were in his inner circle I would have strongly advised against it.
