  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux To Arum: I Won't Accept Any More Disrespect!

WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (12-0, 8KOs) is getting fed up with what he is calling a "lack of respect" from his promoter, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum. Rigondeaux doesn't feel he is getting the proper support since beating Nonito Donaire earlier this year. Rigondeaux's return has yet to be finalized, but Donaire is already booked to return on HBO on November 9th.

Who ever hears a promoter talk crap about their own fighter?! Totally disgusting from Arum. Release him if you can't promote him.

    Glad Rigondeaux is speaking up.

I don't ever remember a situation where a top fighter beat a top PFP and was shunned this bad. The closest I have seen is when Cassamayor got nothing but a Bicycle for his Olympic efforts. Rigo is a Boxer first. Sure, he can make himself a little more exciting but he has learned how to fight the best way he can to win. And this is the worse attitude a Promoter has had toward his fighter I have seen or one of the worst.

          Boss status..

I got my fingers board going that he can somehow get out of his contract. Yes, we'll hear Arum talking down if it happens but who really cares about all that?

I agree that Bob is being disrespectful, But Rigo really isn't that exciting. When it comes to big TV showcasing, the networks care about the entertainment aspect, and lets face it, he's boring. At least guys like Hopkins, and Mayweather, who may not have the most exciting styles can talk a good game. Rigo doesn't even have that, and he takes zero risks in the ring which produces bad fights.

That doesn't make it necessarily right, but its the truth.

                    Fucking, ay, Rigo!

I'm glad Guillermo is coming out and saying these things publicly. This is all just bullshit. If Arum can't get "El Chacal" fights, or just doesn't want to, let the man go! What's the problem?
