But who is there at 118 or 122 that's worth a 600k license fee, for example?

    • Arum is a disease. The sick bastard plays with lives, sabotages people's futures, for incremental profits. Easily one of the slimiest **** the boxing world has ever seen.

The point is his promoter is disrespecting him and treating him like trash. All Arum had to do to get Rigondeaux a fight on HBO was to tell them if they wanted to broadcast the next Manny Pacquaio or Marquez fight, they had to allow Rigondeaux to appear on the undercard and pay him a decent fee. HBO would have agreed...albeit reluctantly. Instead, Arum has done nothing but take cheap shots at him because Rigondeaux exposed his new cash cow.

If you had a child, that child may be dumb as a box of rocks or as ugly as an ape, but you wouldn't say that to other people, even though it is the truth (at least I hope you wouldn't). The same principle applies here.
lol That's what many of us have been saying. As someone's promoter, you don't publicly diss your fighter. If Arum had a problem with the way Rigo fights, that's fine. He should've told Guille, behind closed doors, what he needs to do in order to become more marketable. If Rigo fails to comply...oh, well, he's still your fighter.

When it comes to big TV showcasing, the networks care about the entertainment aspect, and lets face it, he's boring. At least guys like Hopkins, and Mayweather, who may not have the most exciting styles can talk a good game. Rigo doesn't even have that, and he takes zero risks in the ring which produces bad fights.

That doesn't make it necessarily right, but its the truth.
How can you make that assessment after only his 12th professional fight? I kind of understand why he is being held to a higher standard because of his amateur achievements and the fact that he got a crack at a world title so early in his career. But, some of these proclamations about what kind of fighter he is are jumping the gun a little bit.

I said it in another topic, but I really don't think a GBP move would be any more beneficial. Schaefer could barely squeeze out a genuine compliment about Rigo's fellow countryman Lara after his win over Angulo, so why would he want another "tough sell"?
Excellent point mate, **** it move to the UK sign with Hearn and blow up

Besides GBP can't or wouldn't want to meet Rigo's minumum purse. Even Mares doesn't get near Rigo's minimum, much less what he last made
What GBP said about Lara wasn't nearly as bad as what Arum said and is doing to Rigondeaux. Howevr, if Lara feels he was disrespected in that way, he should be looking to get out of his contract ASAP or finish it out and find another promoter just like Rigondeaux.

If Rigondeaux had to take less money to sign with GBP, then he would have to suck it up and decide if he wanted to go that route or retire or sign with a different promoter. Regardless, he needs to get away from Top Rank. Arum has a history of disrespecting certain fighters and favoring others. He did it to Zahir Raheem after he beat Eric Morales and he also did it to Floyd Mayweather. That is why I can't understand why Andre Ward was actually considering leaving Goosen to sign with Arum.

              • Rigondeaux should sue Bob Arum for breach of contract.

He hires the guy to promote him but instead the old fart badmouths him in public and on live TV. Then keeps him on the shelf instead of getting him fights.

I don't know how business savvy Rigo or the people around him are but they need to lawyer up. And for sure do not resign with Top Rank.

When that contract is up go to Golden Boy. If they won't take him then try K2, DiBella, Shaw, or maybe even one of the British promoters.

End up with 50 Cent, fighting on TR PPV undercards, fingers crossed

                  • Yeah Arum's behavior towards Rigondeaux is more than disrespectful, and HBO is even worse. Match Rigondeaux against brawlers and he'll look exciting, it's not that complicated.

Whatever, they said the exact same thing, except Schaefer said it after a high action fight and Lara's most crowdpleasing effort. He also has been keeping Canelo away from him forever, not even a world title shot. Aside from badmouthing, Rigo has gotten the royal treatment from TR so far:

early interim title shot on PPV undercard, check
immediate shot at green champ Ramos, check
kept busy and on TV despite very boring performances vs Cordoba and Ramos
in 12th fight a shot at p4p Donaire, for 2x what Mares last

if Rigo has better options, he should exercise them. Arum said he'd stick him on a PPV undercard if HBO was not willing to meet his purse demands.
