I see a lot of people in NSB getting on Cleverly for barely beating Bellew, but if I'm not mistaken, if it weren't for Cleverly, Bellew would still be undefeated
I don't think Bellew is that great.... his Chilemba fights certainly didn't help his cause either

I'll have to really check him out. But from what I remember, Bellew really wasn't that bad. He just got a KO like a few months ago; I wouldn't say he's horrible, is he?

Sure, he's not mentioned in P4P talks, but he's no Butterbean or anything

Horrible is overshooting it, but he's not that great.
I think the Miranda KO got people excited again after the Cleverly loss, but those Chilemba fights brought them back to Earth.
I don't see him winning a title any time soon.... unless there's a vacant one
Also the last KO he got was Miranda last year, so about 3 fights ago. He's fought Chilemba twice this year

To be fair, I haven't seen anyone looking particularly good vs Chilemba. He's like a poor man
s bernard hopkins, a true spoiler. I agree though that Bellew is not looking great at the moment, but power to him for climbing the ranks after taking a loss. Now two of Cleverly's victims are #1 rated for IBF and WBC respectively. Bellew, which was a close fight and Murat who Clev beat like a hillbilly on his wife.

Am I correct in saying that this is the first guy Kovalev faces who seriously comes to win ?

i think you'll be surprised by how dynamic kovalev proves to be. he has a deceptively good command of range, he never smothers himself and he usually moves out the way before his opponent can throw a counter

campillo is better than murat and bellew, and the guy kovalev literally killed, simakov, was a fairly highly rated prospect in his own right

I think unless Kovalev has some severe stamina issues or an underlying glass jaw I don't know about then he will steam roll Cleverly.

I think Kovalev is somewhat limited but its more down to I just don't rate Cleverly. I don't think he can get Kovalevs respect. I see a lot of flaws and a lot of holes I expect to be taken advantage of. I don't think his footwork is good. I feel he has horrible flaws and whilst a lot rave about him being a good bodypuncher, I don't think so, I see bad technique. Just because a guy throws to the body doesn't mean its good. There is no placement there, the set up is poor. Its just thrown shot with no real thought, placement or technique.

Kovalev is not a basic Euro pressure fighter hes made out to be. Hes a boxer puncher with very good footwork & balance who sets everything up with a jackhammer jab, an aggressive counterpuncher who throws good combinations.

I don't feel Cleverly has the pop and will try use his handspeed/volume to keep Kovalev at bay & its going to be that flicking jab and the volume that gets him in deep.
I just can't see it, the guys not disciplined enough.

Kovalev stoppage and I feel early-mid.

Yeah, in his prime he was. You're not though seriously trying to tell me that the version of Campillo who fought Kovalev was anything special? The guy didn't throw a punch before the 3rd round, was soft around the mid section and looked severely demotivated.

i think that's just assumed since he's never made it past 8.
He might or might not perform well past the 8th round.

I actually see the opposite, Dan.

I've seen Cleverly have really good technique in going to the body, slipping punches and immediately countering. His technique is pretty good in my opinion. I just see power from Kovalev.

I see Cleverly punching in high volume and using sound technique to push Kovalev back up against the ropes and go to work on the body and up top.

Another good feat on Cleverly is he always keeps his chin tucked which is why I'm almost positive Kovalev doesn't catch him with anything early and stop him. I really see Nate grinding Kovalev down and UD'ing him or possibly SD.

Oh well, I need to hurry up and get my workout out the way so I can get back and be set up and ready to watch the fight
