Angelo Dundee has seen all the greats and he is on record saying the Julio Cesar Chavez was the toughest fighter he's ever seen.

Whether you like him or not and hand wrap issue aside. Margarito was one tough SOB. Richardson acknowledged his chin and overall toughness.

Sam Langford, hands down. And he's not even in the poll.

High praise, coming from a man that trained one of the toughest I've ever seen, Muhammad Ali.

              It's obviously Evander Holyfield.

This guy wasn't even a natural heavyweight and went to WAR against giants and elite one punch power heavyweights.

NOT ONCE has he ever backed down

Ali!!!! /went the distance vs Norton with a broken jaw. Got right up from Fraziers monster left hook in Ali/Frazier I (in the 15th round no less). Was also the survivor/winner of the "thrilla in Manila", one of the most brutal fights of all time. Took some serious shots from Foreman (considered the best hwt puncher of all time) before putting him on his azz. He even finished on his feet vs Holmes (if you watched the fight you would realise how this would fit being tough).

                Ali showman? check
                Ali tough SOB? double check

He didn't look so tough in that Frankie Randall rematch when he looked for a way out and found it. Or when he continuously hit Whitaker low but cried when he got it back.
