Robinson took a lot of punishment. More than he is given credit for. He isn't an untouchable Roy Jones, the man was vicious and had no problem getting down and dirty.

My picks would be Hagler, Lamotta or Basilio

There can only be one and that's Battling Nelson. Those who know their history will agree.

I'm not saying Kid Gavilan was the toughest, but his name ought to be included in the discussion. "The Cuban Hawk" fought 143 bouts (1342 rounds), was never knocked out and only went down twice in his career. Pretty amazing when you consider his all-action style, and the fact that he fought several ATGs and HOFers, including the man himself, Ray Robinson (twice).
