He was a decent fighter, albeit with a questionable style, little power and a lot of slap punches. However, all time great, afraid not.

Also Froch has said Calzaghe ducked him and gave up his belt rather than fight him.

I thought by now it was a known fact that Froch was just saying that to get his name known and he actually turned down an offer to fight :/

Calzaghe gave up all his belts and went up to LHW to face Hopkins in a bigger, more lucrative fight.

I can almost 100% guarantee that you didn't know who Carl Froch was back then. Typical revisionist history.

You can spot someone who has a limited knowledge of Calzaghe's career when they say that he had no power. Calzaghe knocked out 21 of his first 22 opponents and then knocked Eubank on his ass in his 23rd fight! He started to change his style as he aged because of the troubles with his hands.

              Protected. That's Calzaghe's legacy.

Shame, because he was a decent fighter.

there are only two kos on his record up to Eubank., the rest are tkos. Not sure how many are like those welsh ref cheat stoppages he got handed to him in that youtube video. Looking at that record, hes just gone down in my estimation, not up, thanks for the eye opener - the 'stoppages' disappear when he fights away from home against non-crap opps. Good victory against Delaney, mind you.

But in other words .. this..... is bull****.

but yeah he did go on to beat Kessler some 10 years after becoming champ so he was pretty good, no doubt about it, lets keep this an appreciation thread alive.

So? Tszyu only had 4 KO's in his career the rest were TKO's, RTD's, etc. Does that mean Tzsyu's power was overrated?

Sure Calzaghe was obviously more a boxer than a puncher, but he did have decent pop.
