You cant blame Duran for saying that. One look at floyd's resume and you see two glaring facts:

    1. His best win is Diego Corrales. Somebody who isnt even a legit hall of famer.

    2. He has yet to face a legit hall of famer IN THEIR PRIME.

    Its ok floyd fans...

    he still undefeated doe....
    Ouch, \....

You're talking AFTER the fact. Floyd has fought tough fighters, they just weren't as good as the big 4. So what, this is his era. Nobody that he is accused of ducking could beat him. It's all accusations. Nobody screamed Mike McCallums name back then either when the big 4 were around. Didn't Mike deserve some love? Oh, no money in a fight with Mike right. Hypocrites.

He says Mayweather would have been "just another guy in the bunch."

Duran is not impressed with Mayweather's level of competition, stating that there is no comparison between the top contenders of today and the fighters who ruled from junior welterweight to middleweight 30 years ago. Duran said Mayweather should have a loss on his record from the first fight with Jose Luis Castillo and he scored the fight with Oscar De La Hoya as a draw. [Click Here To Read More]
Floyd biggest wins were against past prime Oscar, past prime Mosley, past prime Cotto and bloated to welterweight Hatton. We also know how Pac easily disposed them. Unless of course you count his wins against atg Gatti and atg Baldomir. So did HOF fighters Ortiz and Guerrero.

        • There's no doubting Floyd has talent, and is one of the best to have stepped in the ring of the past 15 years.

Problem is, in Duran's era.... it's very possible Floyd wouldn't have gone up to 147 with the like of SRL, Hearns, Benitez and the likes up there.

Ranking Floyd in Duran's era would have ONLY depended on who he beat. He could have all the talent in the world, but face it, if he doesn't beat any legitimate champs or elite challengers of the late 70s, early 80s by actually facing them, nobody would take notice.

Would the Floyd we know of this era, face the best of Duran's era?

Anything that challenges God (Floyd) to these guys, and they come at you like you're an infidel.
Im old enough to remember a lot of Durans fight homeboy. Top 10 fighter in history EASILY. But make no mistakes, against guys that move (like SRL, Mayweather, or even Whitaker), his ass would've been toast. Seems to me that Duran enjoys a slugfest more than he enjoys a tactical war. No one is doubting that he is one of the greatest, but rest assure that his HEART will always be brought into question. Most people remember Duran for QUITTING.

                • The difference between Duran and Mayweather is Floyd had the discipline to stay at his best weight. Is he as great as Duran? No but near the end of Duran's career it was going quite pathetic for him. Prime Duran's lightweight reign was great

But there isn't a lightweight Duran beat that Floyd couldn't beat either. Dejesus would be a good match tho

Well yes but it's funny that the guys Duran lost to were pretty much the only guys beating Mayweather as well...

Does that make Duran ordinary as well?
