Thing is for me, all I ever see Floyd doing most of the time is extremely good movement, but just potshotting. It has influenced judging in the sport to score points for potshotting for most of the round, instead of fighting. Floyd gets ridiculously ****** scores in fights, like the Cotto scores. That fight was either 115-113 or 116-112, with the latter most likely.

He has a defensive style which is boring in a lot of peoples eyes (an opinion just as valid as the people who like his style of fighting). I think people confuse liking a chess match to being a "in-depth" fan. His personality and antics are what sells the fights though, as well as his status, but its his opponent which usually brings the excitement.

Floyd is a boxer, takes guts to get in a ring. But he's just not a warrior. Some people just aren't. And really, if he doesn't care about it, noone else should really. He'll go down for his skills, not for his heart.

Good post. Although I believe his 'antics and personality' are precisely what detract so many fans from him too. He's too arrogant and self obsessed.

They don't have Zimmerman in their Avatars because they think he is a warrior, more like they have hidden agenda.

The best example is just look at Berto vs Guerrero and Guerrero vs PBF. It was crazy how Guerrero was gassed by round 7 in the Floyd fight, he just couldn't do a thing and he got frustrated and winded. And who could forget Berto trying the shoulder roll? lol!

                good post.
great point about the scoring for potshotting.
i admire great skill, like im sure all boxing fans should, but when potshotting wins the round instead of pressing the fight & ring generalship, then thats when i scratch my head....

example, we joke about malignaggi... but he pressed the fight against broner and landed repeated body shots & WORKED the whole round; but once broner lands a clean counter shot, everyone automatically gives adrien the round. im a broner fan, but even i was frustrated at broners lack of offense, he let off the gas. i was more impressed with what paulie was able to do....

jmm is the PERFECT example of a counterpuncher that presses the fight and has GREAT ring generalship... the moment he let off the gas against pac, he gets called out quickly and loses a close decision.... broner & floyd seem to be immune to that criticism.

its all about choices, "fighting like a man" seems to be the ability to CHOOSE to go in for the kill when you can easily coast to a decision.... or CHOOSE to engage when you know you outgun your opponent instead of sitting back and prolonging the inevitable decision...

to be fair, if berto fought his natural way, i think he wouldve done better against robert... im a fan of neither, but i was pulling for berto to knock this dude out.... then when i saw berto's "shoulder roll", then i IMMEDIATELY wanted guerrero to punish this clown. LOL
