Yeah after Floyd moved up. If Floyd or Pacquiao fought in Castillo's weight class then, he wouldn't be remembered as the best anything either.

Cotto was not able to bully and push Trout around on the inside which is a good tactic he has when he wants to pin his opponents on the ropes and tee off..but I was watching Trout-Rodriguez and they were both pretty much the same size

So Cotto may need a different plan of attack and not try to bully cuz Delvin is a pretty big guy
I think he will box quite a bit and open up if he hurts Delvin Rodríguez. I think Cotto will land the jab at will and that will open up other opportunities.

So is thread about Miguel Cotto's resume or about comparing JLC and Cotto? I don't understand the need to bring JLC into this debate.

As far as Miguel's opponents go, I think they are very underrated. I won't write a list as it's already been done, but Cotto defeated many guys who were in their prime and went on to do great things later in their career. A lot of them were also undefeated.

And I don't need to look at his resume to see the caliber of fighter he is because I have eyes. I've seen almost every single one of his fights and that was enough to tell me that he was an amazing fighter and sadly at this point, underrated.

Yes, by this point I'm sure most people know that he's my favorite fighter as he was really the main reason that I got so into boxing so my opinion is probably a little biased. BUT, I'm not Puerto Rican (not even an ounce of Latin) so I think that adds some credibility to my opinion.

C'mon.....there's clearly a double standard there.
lol this thread was always coming back to Floyd with you.

Cotto was the first to stop Corley, first to beat and stop Torres, first to beat and stop Quintana, first to beat Malignaggi in his prime.

Corley wasn't undefeated when Floyd fought him, he had been beaten on points before and he even hurt Mayweather who did not stop him.

Gatti was pretty shopworn by the time Mayweather fought him, a shadow of his former self.

Baldomir was a weak champion who had lost many times and Judah had just lost to Baldo (Judah's not a great win for Cotto either).

Depends on what you feel the Hall Of Fame should be about. There was a lot of debate on this when Gatti got in. Some felt it should be the best, others that contribution to the sport and popularity (i.e. fame) should also count. It's never been clearly defined.

I see your point,, but all the guys that cotto beat all went on to have big world title wins,,,,, hell pauli gave broner hell, torres was a legit guy til he retired.. maussa yeah he isnt the greatest, but he would be tough for a young prospect which is what cotto was at the time... Maussa did go on to ko vivian harris for a world title so its not like he is a total bum

Can someone please tell me, at the time, before the plasterman, who Cotto was "supposed" to fight instead of the guys he already fought?

Cotto is always in a good fight, he fights the best, he has a loyal fan base, he can fight, dude is not overrated. He isn't the very best but he is what the sport needs, a solid game fighter who always entertains and fights who we want him to fight. I might add he did have some solid wins also. Get it?

I just got Red k'd by Maniac for saying Cotto is underrated.

What's the matter, little girl, did I hurt your feelings?

Some solid guys in his resume and a lot of good B level contenders.

He just never won that one big fight and came short.
