Funny that you'd criticize the writings of someone like Greisman when you've already gotten off on the wrong foot with your unneeded hyphenating and misspelling of the word nincompoop.

I don't even recall saying anything much about Ishe Smith's "suicide". Why not do all the "many" interested readers the favour of reprinting it for us (without any personal "iinterpolations"). The vast majority of people who attempt suicide have been shown to be just looking for attention, not wanting to kill themselves. I believe that what we "know" of Smith's "suicide" is purely from his own account.......I don't recall it being a "newsbreak"....

And as for my "criticism" of David Greisman, you obviously are not sufficiently analytical enough to note that I do not criticise him, I criticised the ponderous, pontificatory, many "Literary Lapses" he made. He rarely makes them now. He is a very literate and erudite writer and capable of much better. And he has a gift for "solid reporting" which he doesn't have for article writing.
At least Smith, Griffith, and Greisman actually have (or had, in Griffith's case) such gifts. The only gifts you have are arthritis, gallstones, and incontinence.

Just my opinion of course and I believe that I-like you and the other ham-bone- have the freedom to express it in these pages. At least until either David or a Moderator intervene. This have so-far not happened. No reason why it should.

So if you call this criticism of a person, you should take a course in Logic, or perhaps Critical Studies.....who knows...nothing may work with you guys.

MY suggestion to you both, now that you've found each other, is to do a beautiful, heart-rending, film ending clinch, and "fade-out.... better still.... fade away.
The good news about all of that is that you'll be fading away long before any of us do, you cantankerous **** wart. Unfortunately, your death won't make headlines anywhere, except perhaps a brief mention in 'capricious ****s monthly.'

Just remember, one day, which you presently believe will never happen, you will suddenly find you've become old.

A point i wanted to make about that Griffith film was that as I recall Benny Paret's life, his kid was a baby when he died and never knew his father. Also, he was originally unwilling to meet Griffith, and his mother actually never forgave him nor ever spoke to him her whole life. Whilst Paret was lying on the canvas gasping his life away, Griffith was being exultant and boastful to the press, and making snide comments about Paret.

And the records show that he did NOT lose his will to box, he had 5 more fights before the end of the year, and in the next year he had 6, 3 of which were world Title fights. This was his usual schedule. During this time he had two of his best fights, a loss and win against Cuba's Luis Rodriguez. We can only say that he took a couple of months off after Paret died. He had about 75 fights AFTER Paret died, the vast majority of his career, which contained most of his best fights especially in the Middleweight division.

If the two really wanted to have an emotional "reconciliation".... the very last place for it should be on a fairly pedestrian film, for the titivation of millions. At least that was written by a few scribes at the time as I recall.

What are you trying to imply here? That it's impossible to grieve for the loss of a parent or loved one if you never actually knew them? I'm hard pressed to determine which would be the more difficult task : To lose someone you love after knowing them most of your life, or to be denied the opportunity of ever having gotten to know them in the first place.

Also, he was originally unwilling to meet Griffith, and his mother actually never forgave him nor ever spoke to him her whole life. Whilst Paret was lying on the canvas gasping his life away, Griffith was being exultant and boastful to the press, and making snide comments about Paret.
Who could blame him after the things Paret had said about him publicly? He probably had no idea how mortally injured Paret was in that moment, anyway. Guys boast over beaten men in this sport all the time, very rarely does it result in death. Holding a grudge against Griffith for behaving the way most other fighters behave is an extremely emotional thing to do coming from someone as callous as yourself.

Are you Benny Paret's widow or something?

Griffith is easily a legend and was a great fighter in his day, but man, every time I see his name I think of that brutal finish of Paret. Jesus man that was vicious. But I also think of those great Tiger fights

I deliberately spelled the word nin-cum-poop this way, inserting the hyphens so that you could enunciate it more clearly when you read it out aloud, which I understand that you do because you move your lips, slowly and carefully as genuine "McGuffy's Reader graduate should. Also so that you could get the REAL meaning of it. It's a word popularised in Thackeray's time. I didn't want to waste any more pearls of wisdom on creeps.

It means or meant a "ninny"-fool, "cum"-with,and "poop" -a load in a baby's diaper. And that's the way I meant it in this matter.

I don't suffer from any of the medical problems you so kindly have bestowed on me, and don't expect to. Still one can never tell. It might happen to anyone....

Believe me, your kind wishes are gratefully acknowledged, and please don't stop teaching me about the English language. You have no idea how much I appreciate the thought-even though I necessarily must discard the contents.
