Really saddened to hear about Griffith's passing. While well before my time, I caught up on his career about a decade or so ago, and he was truly a phenomenal fighter, very skilled and very intelligent in the ring. Obviously, the rubbermatch with Paret was a sore spot for everybody involved, but I highly suggest watching the documentary 'Ring of Fire' for any fan who isn't familiar with Griffith's personality or body of work. The conclusion to that documentary remains one of the most profound human stories I've ever seen captured on film.

R.I.P. to Emile Griffith. My condolences to his loved ones.

This comment reveals a lot about what kind of repugnant human being you must be in real life if, when confronted with the images of two very wounded men burying the hatchet with one another in an attempt to close decades old wounds, you sat there going "yeah, this is just public relations garbage."

      I pity your family.

I met Emile a couple of times back in the early 90's up at the HOF in Canastota. He remains without question the friendliest guy I met up there. Very cool guy who liked to clown with the fight fans. He'll be sorely missed by the Canastota crowd I'm sure. RIP, champ.

He's one of the biggest morons on this site.

He said similar things In regards to Ishe Smith's attempts of suicide.

Griffith unintentionally killed a man. Which effected him badly and clearly I might add. His son, who understandably would have been an emotional wreck over this buried the hatchet with him.

How can anyone be such a insensitive piece if **** to consider that a publicity stunt?

            Unbelievable.

I'm familiar with him, but usually I only see him post whenever he wants to pick a fight with the writer David Greisman over something insignificant. He literally posts something negative in every thread that contains an article written by Greisman.

That kind of obsessive behavior, coupled with his comments outlined above, leads me to believe he's nothing more than a bitter old prick who has nothing better to do than to sit around and spew hate on the internet.

**** him and everybody that looks like him.

Don't show yourself to be more of a fool than you already have in the past. My comment was purely to criticise the film makers' intrusion of 1930s Hollywood sick-making rubbish..

Or like that 30 min. show which was popular in Griffiths early years.....was it "This is your Life" or some crap like that, where a former celebrity is pushed on stage and one by one his early life acquaintances are awkwardly brought out. You can see the guy cringing as the show is ongoing, and then as the "piece de resistance" they drag an unwilling former partner that he had a bitter and lasting enemity with about 40 years and they are forced to kiss and make up.before a drooling audience. Sickening, I was always sorry for them

But audiences LOVED it, They got vicarious thrills from the obvious embarrassment with which the whole show was flooded.

You seemed to ignore my comments on his boxing, most of which I actually saw at teh time they took place ....

Didn't Griffith have very bad Dementia Pugiltica for many years. That must have been what he died from. He paid the price for ring glory.

All I see here is a flowing stream of bull**** about an outdated television show in a desperate attempt to avoid the criticisms that have been leveled against you in this thread.

On matters of boxing I respect your opinion greatly, but on a personal level I find your behavior to be tasteless and tawdry. Normally, I make it a habit to respect my elders, but in this case I'm happy to piss on your head. Go choke on a metamucil sandwich, gramps.

At least I've given you nin-cum-poops a reason to write something intelligible instead of your usual crap even though it's critical of me. You're entitled to do so.

I don't even recall saying anything much about Ishe Smith's "suicide". Why not do all the "many" interested readers the favour of reprinting it for us (without any personal "iinterpolations"). The vast majority of people who attempt suicide have been shown to be just looking for attention, not wanting to kill themselves. I believe that what we "know" of Smith's "suicide" is purely from his own account.......I don't recall it being a "newsbreak"....

And as for my "criticism" of David Greisman, you obviously are not sufficiently analytical enough to note that I do not criticise him, I criticised the ponderous, pontificatory, many "Literary Lapses" he made. He rarely makes them now. He is a very literate and erudite writer and capable of much better. And he has a gift for "solid reporting" which he doesn't have for article writing.

Just my opinion of course and I believe that I-like you and the other ham-bone- have the freedom to express it in these pages. At least until either David or a Moderator intervene. This have so-far not happened. No reason why it should.

So if you call this criticism of a person, you should take a course in Logic, or perhaps Critical Studies.....who knows...nothing may work with you guys.

MY suggestion to you both, now that you've found each other, is to do a beautiful, heart-rending, film ending clinch, and "fade-out.... better still.... fade away.
