If GGG landed one of those solid shots its NO WAY Floyd can be durable enough to take it. The punch Ghost landed in the beginning of the 5th round, from GGG would STOP Floyd. This is why we have weight classes, so guys can their own size. And I think people who clamour for that fight, know that Floyd cant win, so they pretend its realistic.
    Well said sir

Those posters know that given the outside the ring factors this fight is almost impossible to make right now.

Lets not pretend this is about something it isn't.

Floyd asks for this though. He knows people are going to continuously throw names at him until he's beaten, but he put himself in that position. If he doesn't fight every and anybody you're always going to have people saying he's ducking the next guy. It's just the nature of the beast, but it doesn't make fans any worse because if you take politics out of the equation, who in their right mind wouldn't want to see and or pay money to see Mayweather vs Golovkin (at 154) if it were put on the table? That's a no brainer.

        • Ok. But Sergio is the lineal MW champion and is the best MW in the world now, not GGG. Respectfully, this shouldn't be a debate. SO as I said fighting GGG at 154 doesn't qualify.
That's is your opinion BugDunn, obviosly there is a debate...In opinion of many including me, GGG is the best current MW champ, it's not a question of titles, is what you see on the ring.As I said, time will confirmate this.People now want to see Mayweather against Golovkin, not Martínez. And about Floyd fight GGG at 154 not qualifying, I don't know about what qualifiyng we are talking, only thing I know is it would be a great thing for Floyd reputation winning or losing, because Golovkin is obviously a very dificult fight, a really tought challenge, a great name and will be greater with time.

Floyd is a WW, not a JMW. The reasons floyd and ggg wont fight are political and economic-HBO wont release GGG to fight on showtime, HBO wont air floyd right now, the fight isn't big enough to do a cross network thing like lennox/tyson.
Floyd is a JMW because he is ranked at 154 lbs. and is the world champ in that division.Golovkin(k2 promotions) , he has fought outside of HBO already versus Ishida and he was going to fight outside of HBO his next fight but HBO, with the increase in ratings from his last fight, now has buyed his next fight so americans will see his next fight on that channel.HBO has banned Goldenboy promotions from their emissions, but apparently Gamboa (Top Rank) is in talks with Mares (Goldenboy) to fight in Cancún,televised in the USA by Showtime I guess (because of the baning from HBO towards this promotion).

Added to that fighting GGG at 154, when he has never fought there, doesn't exactly add to floyd's resume in the way you are suggesting.
Golovkin is a small middleweight obviosly it adds to his resume.Better than his last fight for sure.

If you are defending your argument by parsing things floyd has said then thats a strectch.
I'm only talking and exposing opinions. One anecdotical comment was Floyd saying those things talking of him as the atg and better than Robinson etc. Well, he hasn't even faced any middleweight champion to start comparing his legacy with those legends. And I'm not Floyd hater, if you are thinking that, in fact I think he is the p4p fighter of this generation, but he duck risky fights, like this (I don't blame him for not taking fights at MW, but he had at least to take taht defense of the sww belt with Martínez at 154, his division, and of course fought Pacquiao when this was the Megafight (we can blame the two parts if you want).

If you think GGG beats floyd thats fine. If your desire to see floyd lose is so great thats fine too. But just don't go about it this way.
Of course I think GGG beats Floyd.Look what Cotto's jab did to his face, Golovkin's one would turn that into a hamburger.I don't blame Floyd at all if he does not take that fight, only for even comparing himself with Muhammad Ali.

Throwing names out until he is beaten is not a problem. The problem is when you ignore the true reasons why a fight isn't happening.

As for a GGG fight at 154-I can agree it would sell. I also agree it would be a tremendous fight-not because of GGG's power but because of his amatuer pedigree and ability to cut of the ring.

But when people make this out to be the best fighting the best when GGG isn't the best at 160 -they are being disingenuous. They know why the fight isn't happening.

Generally when there's a champ (esp unified/lineal) in a division, you'd expect him to be able to take on anyone that can make that weight.

Dude, Glovkin hasn't fought at 54 for over 8 years. This is the most ridiculous scenario conceived by fanboys and Mayweather haters looking to prop a guy up because the landscape of fighters, and time remaining to dethrone Floyd isn't on their side.

All this proves is Mayweather's name obviously is carrying the sport.
