Why is GGG DUCKING WARD thats the question? Why is he running from WARD. Hes only one weight class up. You sweet science haters want floyd to go up to fight GGG but dont want GGG to go up one weight class to fight WARD. ggg is trying to cover his cowardice with mentioning floyd to distract you guys from his obvious fear of WARD.

Yeah, it was meant kind of as a joke.

Let's be real though, Floyd's testing as a professional has cutoff dates as well. He knew that he could be tested during those 8 weeks, prior to the Showtime-deal that meant he could've been using for 40+ weeks a year. And to some degree even during testing, of course.

They're setting that fight up for next year. Assuming both keep winning, it's pretty much a guarantee Ward-Golovkin happens.

GGG and his team flat out said they'll take that fight in a year or two, and they told Ward right in his face. Ward knows it too. Mayweather's BEEN at the top, so it's clear people are going to look for the next challenge until someone beats him. I don't understand how this is rocket science to people.

Golovkin also called out pretty much everyone from 154 to 175, not just Mayweather.
But he made a specific reference to Floyd. The only reason why is because he has a distinct advantage over Floyd and thats his size. I didn't see him specifically name Sergio, Kid Chocolate or Ward. Maybe I missed the article or interview. It's just a little sickening to me for a career long MW to actually say a WW is the fight he really wants. And who has GGG beat that warrants him a high profile fight like that anyway? A win over Sergio and Kid Chocolate would make this dude a star, but if he keeps fighting no names, he won't be nothing more than a hype job in my eyes. And I think he would beat both.

He has said that he wants to fight all of them, so no need to feel sick. Hopefully the Quillin-fight happens in november.

I wouldn't call Macklin a no name either, even though he's not an A-level fighter.

I think you know that for 90% of the people talking about this fight, especially the TS, are doing so not "to look for the next challenge until someone beats him" as you correctly indicate but so they can say floyd's ducking someone they know beats him. Those posters know that given the outside the ring factors this fight is almost impossible to make right now.

Lets not pretend this is about something it isn't.

Golovkin's people have said Ward's name. They've said Hopkins's name as well. He's tried to fight Quillin and been turned down. His people have said he's willing to fight any champion from 154 to 175, and mentioned the names. Obviously calling out fighters and actually trying to make those fights are two different things, but he has mentioned lots of names, not just Mayweather. He's tried to fight many middleweights, and most turn him down. Hopefully they won't anymore, now that he's getting considerable HBO backing.

Golovkin's focus, rightfully, is on middleweight. All this other talk should just be talk until he's finished establishing himself as the best there. If he really wants Mayweather, he can move down to 154.

How many posts have you made in this thread without understanding the basic premise? GGG said he'd drop down to SWW and challenge for Floyd' belts there. Did you know Floyd was fighting for a bunch of SWW belts next, including the lineal one (albeit at a CW)? It's not special olympics, if GGG can mak 154 its 100% fair game
