I'M TIRED TO KEEP REPEATING THIS:

Well, I've checked the WBO rules (because the fight was sanctioned by WBO)...
    They read as it follows:

    SECTION 25. COUNT
    (a) When a contestant is down, the Referee shall order the opponent to retire to the farthest neutral corner and shall immediately begin the count on the fallen contestant. The Referee shall audibly announce the count while he moves his arm downward indicating the end of each second of the count.
    (b) If the opponent refuses to remain in the neutral corner farthest from the fallen boxer, the Referee shall stop the count until the boxer returns to the corner and shall then resume the count at the point in which it was interrupted. The fallen fighter shall take the compolsory eight (8) count.
    (c) If, when reaching the count of eight (8), the fighter is up, the Referee, if he deems it necessary, may examine said contestant taking all the time needed to evaluate whether the contestant is fit to continue. If the Referee determines that the fighter is fit to continue, the Referee shall promptly order the contest to continue.
    (d) If the contestant taking the count is still down when the Referee calls the count of ten (10), the Referee shall wave both arms indicating that the contestant has been knocked out.
    _____________________________________

The ref called 9 and immediately waved his arms instead of counting 10...

Having trouble with reading comprehension again? Point me to the part where the BBBC's rules are "9 and out".

      BBBC's Rule 3.33

3.33 If a Boxer is “down” under the provisions of Regulation 3.32.1(a) he must return to the boxing ring unassisted within twenty seconds. In all other cases mentioned above, he must regain his feet unassisted within ten seconds. The Referee shall not permit a Boxer to continue boxing, if in his opinion he is able to do so, until the expiration of 8 seconds following the knock down

      Another fail on your part

Again ive posted the rule, he must call 10 and wave. Jesus christ are you hard headed. Why did the same exact ref, when counting out Ustinov against Pulev count to 10 and then wave? He did it wrong in that fight?

Why'd you delete your last posts?

Your argument makes no difference to the outcome, if he followed the WBC rules he would have said 10 instead of waving and the fight would still be over. He was still classed as down under BBBoC's rules.

Edit: article clearly says they use 9 and out in Britain.

It wasn't Chisora's fault that Scott and the ref decided to play chicken with the count. He was in a good position and worked himself ahead in the fight. If anything Chisora was robbed of finishing the job and now they're trying to taint his win.

I think it should stand even if there's a rematch, fine or suspend the ref but don't take away the work Dereck put in.

I'm sure the ref doesn't make enough to fine him (probably a couple hundred bucks for the fight, at most), and I don't think his error was blatant enough to merit a suspension. But he needs a talking to, for sure.

I agree that Chisora deserves to be viewed apart from the controversy. I believe when a fight is stopped due to referee error, it should be viewed as similar to a technical decision. I had Chisora ahead 48-47 at the time. Scoring the last round, he's ahead 58-55. To me, it's a 6-round TD win for Chisora. Granted, it would be a bit more problematic if Scott were ahead after the knockdown, since obviously Chisora was coming on at the time of the stoppage. But at least in this instance it works.

I don't know about that, from his actions it looked like he wanted to count Scott out (not that Scott is blameless).

Yeah I could go along with that. I think I scored it similar to you also.

The BBBC rules say he get 10 seconds. More importantly it was for a WBO title and the rules state extremely clearly that he must count to 10 and then wave.

The person who wrote this article is a moron, going off "theory" instead of the actual Rules which state absolutely nothing about 9 and out. His article says "in most cases".

He was not classed as down under Brit rules either

And it wasn't Scott fault that the referee can't tell 9 from 10 and didn't follow the rules. HE WAS UP BEFORE TEN! Am I being Punk'd?
