See, the thing with Matthysse is that he was so noticeably bothered by Peterson's subpar movement that he quickly opted to punch behind the head, make Peterson fight his fight, if that doesn't say anything about Matthysse's dimensions I don't know what will. Gamboa, and Maidana have the same tendencies when their opponent opts to move.

The difference here is that I don't think that says anything about Matthysse-Broner, I really don't. What I've been saying from the beginning is...Broner is a beat on the inside, an absolute beat. You can talk about his mobility; lack of movement, but put him in there against a fighter who's willing to stand in front of him and he'll most likely shine.

I believe Broner can move when he wants to. I've seen him box from the outside before and play it safe.

Broner is definitely a beast on the inside. He has a quick and compact left hook that can do serious damage.

The only thing Matthyse really has on Broner is experience. Broner should fight Maidana next and look at Matthyse some time in 2014.

Yes, he's world better than each of those examples. Usually you are a decent poster, not sure if you're arguing with emotions here, but it's pretty incredible you are suggesting he hasn't, if you are remotely serious it's clear you haven't paid attention to him and there is nothing else to say but, see you around fight night.

I watched his last fight with Lopez.

He's more patient now. I'll give him that. But he still throws like a wild man and gets hit a lot.

I like Broner's chances against him. Too much speed. Period.

If you think he hasn't shown clear and concise improvement since that fight then you haven't seen him fight since the Judah fight. His greatest weakness back then was he was kinda lackadaisical. Hes come in hungry, motivated and ambitious since those back to back robberies. Put him in th ring now with either on and they're sleeping before the 8th guaranteed. He beats Broner by tko.

I don't really see what the big deal is with this fight, not sure if this fight is next but it's an easy fight to evaluate. Looking at their respective styles, improvements, progressions etc I just hope Broner vacates because he would make Maidana look like a one trick pony (Which he is anyway).

Overrating Broner? Eh meh.. Maidana is a one trick pony. Broner is crap. But he would still beat Maidana easily, he would never beat this crap Broner still, I don't even want to talk about giving credit because there is no point.

I don't know whether Broner was being xenophobic or not but he sure as hell was being incoherent. I don't know why Broner thinks he can talk well, his comebacks are pretty terrible. He is pretty witless if you ask me, although underneath the ridiculous persona I don't think he is as horrible a person as he projects.

I'm not being rhetorical here but which fights? Broner seems more than athletic enough and yet he doesn't seem to fight well on the move from what I've seen. I also have a su****ion that his dominance on the inside is largely due to having been so much bigger than his opponents at super featherweight and lightweight. There are question marks on his defence too, he looks open to being hurt by someone who can throw a mean right hook to the body. Maidana is largely about the right hand to the head and if there is one punch that Broner seems to be very hard to hit with it is the straight right hand. Maidana does loop his big knockout right hand though so if he can catch Broner on the top and side of the head and disorientate him then Maidana might be able to knock Broner out.

At the moment Broner is a curious combination of excessive hype and some good wins. I'm not quite sure yet just how good he really is. Maidana on the other hand has improved, thinks about what he is doing better and actually uses a jab now. Maidana has won the first battle of talking and he will win that war easily but i'm not sure who will win the fight. I like the fight, it will actually give something of an answer to the question about how good Broner really is.
