Straight up Florida fans are the worst fans in sports to be honest. They don't get behind there team besides lebrons. It's a damn shame 2 because if rigondeux and Gamboa were Mexican and from LA they would be headling ppvs by now.cubans need 2 start supporting there fighters better. And u Can't deny that

Rigo, his manager and Cuban fans need to be chastising themselves not a business like HBO for pointing out that he isn't profitable. Make it profitable and the support will follow.

According to the 2010 census there are 1.21 Million Cubans in Florida. In contrast the top five US cities with the largest Polish populations have roughly half the amount with 600,000. The largest New York only has 213,447.

      Food for thought.
You are an A$$ that doesn't know $h1t about Cubans and boxing politics, first we been following boxing since the 19 century, second we don't go to Texas, Vegas or California to watch a boxing match but you bring it to South Florida and the Stadium will be fill, just ask how many of us went to see Arguello-Pryor at the Orange Bowl, Miami Arena was packed for a Casamayor fight, Ali, Dundee (RIP), the Estafanis, Secada and a bunch of other celebrities, 100's of fans couldn't get in, last september they show Barthelemy, Socarras, Gonzalez and a couple of other Cubans and some couldn't get a seat at the Hilton Sport Doubletree, why do you think they haven't show any of the three Cubans here in South Florida? Because they know we will come to see our fighters, so it is easier for them to keep the myth, no support, hard to sell and all the other BS, Lara just went through hell and his promoter say that it will be hard to promote him, BS, they are afraid that he will whoop Canelos a$$, and he will if they have the ball to put him in the ring with him, Lara got all the cards against him when he fought Angulo, the ring could fit i my living room, he wasn't allow to gain more than ten pounds after the official weight in and couldn't cool off between rounds, while Angulo was allow to have all the advantages, still he make him quit, you and a few others are ignorant, fan boys and haters...

STFO, you don't know $h1t, it is hard to get behind a Marlins team that get dismantled every other year and they haven't show any of the Laras, Gamboas or Rigondeaux big fights in South Florida so HTF do you know if we are going or not?

You must not have read through the thread but you've already been mentioned actually. See below.

When I looked it up, it turned out there was only a crowd of 1,500 in a 20,000 capacity arena.

You don't fail to live up to your reputation. It's all a conspiracy and keeping that conspiracy alive is more important to everyone than making money. Got it.

they have fans that show up 30 minutes late to a playoff basketball game on purpose.

lebron james is one of, if not the planet's best athlete, and the hear are the planet's best basketball team. if they can't get up for that they won't be getting up for a 122 lb boxer with a very boring style.

florida is a state of outsiders. fewer people who live southern florida were born there than perhaps any other state. sports teams there almost never do well. the university of Miami football team had some real glory years.

Who besides Mexicans and Filipinos can draw under 130?

Florida isn't a boxing state and the US isn't a boxing country. Nobody gives a **** about these lower weight classes but us.

A 122 pound Cuban isn't going to generate crowds and ratings to justify big purses.

                He needs to travel.

you guys are making it complicated...it's all about business for hbo plain and simple.

rigo can't headline a fight card yet even if he's a champion because he simply doesn't have a fanbase.. and for someone of his caliber popularity wise, he already have a high purse demand. he got 750K for the donaire fight and he can only go upward from that amount. he gets paid more than a guy like golovkin whose popularity gains substantially everytime he fights. rigo on the other hand, even after he beats donaire, doesn't really gets too much demand from fans.

This is the problem. If the Cubans themselves can't be obligated to rally behind their compatriot to generate the numbers, why would they even expect non-Cubans to do it for them?

Only Cubans could solve this promotional nightmare Rigo is experiencing. There's nobody else.

If I remember correctly, Sergio Martinez had the same problem. But his handlers, at least, did something about it, finally; if you remember Sergio's involvement on anti-bullying and violence against women, which was part of SM's makeover. It did very little, but at least they tried. Rigo's handlers are lazy as ****. They expect TR to do everything for them.

If true that could explain what everyone is saying about the sports teams but you would think that same dynamic would lend itself towards the different communities supporting their own like with Cuban boxers. People claiming boxing isn't popular in Florida in spite of the heavy Cuban presence could be why not i guess but its strange that passion for the sport isn't the same with them.

It kept gradually growing for Martinez as he kept knocking people out in spite of not having a inherent fanbase.
