I thought I gave the best example in Broner. Do you really need to promote a guy like Broner? Fans like the way he fights. Aside from that he comes up with antics like asking his dad to brush his hair at the end of the fight. He showboats and taunts his opponents. And outside the ring he's an ass.

Need I say more? You don't need a promoter with a guy like this.

There's hundreds of Adrien Broners across boxing gyms everywhere. They just don't get the promotion and opponent selection that he does.

i mean really, do you have any idea what a promotor does? venues, contracts, sponsorships, networks, finance, accounting/taxes, press tours, media relations, and much more. they [in this case, GBP] run a multimillion dollar businesses. they "produce" fighters.

99.9% of fighters can't do any of that, and don't. they talk on twitter and elle sechback's youtube, though. big f#Cking deal. if that's the extent of what you consider "promoting" then there's not much more i can tell you.

adrien broner would be an absolute nobody without a push from his promotor and manager, both of whom have incredible pull with HBO and showtime.


fighters need promotors. managers too. fighters train and fight. if you don't understand that then you're not worth any further effort in the provision of an explanation.

Dude, you can have the best promoter in the world and people would still not show up. Fans base their decision on the fighter's past fights. And if they didn't like what they see... BUT you can still trick them and promise fans to give them an entertaining fight. You can actually lie.

that is [very clearly] not what i'm saying (though i doubt you even read my posts,) but you're uninformed so i don't expect you to make any relevant arguments or statements. promotors very clearly gravitate toward talents, personalities, and most importantly fanbases, which are often regional or ethnic. that doesn't mean they don't need promotors.

Lol I follow sports playboy and always see those marlin,jaguar.devil rays, and magic home games empty. And there's a reason why those fighters never get brought there for fights cuz they wouldn't draw $h1t. And didn't the marlins go threw a big spending spree last off season to bring the fans????? It will shatter the myth that Cubans don't support their athletes, they were losing, the Marlins, you bring fans by winning, every time Jose Fernandez is in the mound the place is packed, Cespedes is love in Oakland as Puig in LA and Ibaņez and Morales in Seattle, why? Not only they perform they been show in commercials do your home work son, they targeting Pinoys and Mexicans because they will love a fly if smashed its head against the wall, Canelo is a big draw because he is red head and have freckles not because he is this monster in the ring, beating Lopez, Hatton, Gomez, little Cotto and having a very controversial win against a feather fisted Trout doesn't make you an elite, and yet he is a Mexican favorite, the funny thing is that he throws 10 punches per round gas out after the 6 round and he a "marvelous" boxer, gtfo, guys that likes this fighter have no business critiquing any standout Cuban fighter or from any other country for that matter...
