Adamek's ability to draw thousands of Polish to attend his fights has done wonders for his career... HBO is his strongest supporter.Regardless of how pleasing his style is to casual boxing fans if the Cuban diaspora in Florida filled an arena with 10,000 fans the way the Polish do for Adamek in New Jersey guys like Lara and Rigo wouldn't have this problem. Rigo, his manager and Cuban fans need to be chastising themselves not a business like HBO for pointing out that he isn't profitable. Make it profitable and the support will follow.
Fact is... Attendance has little to no bearing on HBO's decisions (there are multiple examples that reflect this from the recent past and even in the near future); they don't receive benefits from that. Their objectives are to maintain and increase their subscriber base by satisfying it, have it reflect in the ratings, and have the potential to put the fighter on HBO PPV.
"Rigo is boring" is a smoke screen for their agenda; HBO and Top Rank have an ulterior motive.Comment

Bring a good prime time fight down here in Miami and the people will come. Marlins park is empty because nobody wants to give that crook Loria a penny for baseball in his pockets after the crap he pulled off. Have a boxing fight in Marlins Park and people will show up to watch good match ups not mismatches. The economy is hurting there. Outside football & basketball there isn't much of a sports fanbase. Hockey & baseball don't draw well at all. The 2 baseball & 2 hockey teams are hurting for attendance. Arizona has same issues... Is it because they are states with large tourist/retirement population? Cubans must not care about baseball or boxing once they are gone outside cuba...
I'm tired of people saying Miami is a front runner city smh. Miami fans aren't ****** and we won't pay or show up for a crappy product sold at premium prices.Comment

It was garfios. I did call him out on it when he was having a ****** beef with ElBossHogg because he blocked him in a thread where he was bashing cubans, but he was shortly banned right after so I didn't get a chance to gloat and he never responded.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 07-13-2013, 06:52 PM.Comment

HBO doesn't show CW's and rarely HW's but when Adamek was a LHW he was on HBO. Mexican, Puerto Rican, Pinoy boxers with a built in fanbase are easier sells that's why they hold cards in NY and Texas when it involves their boxers.Adamek's ability to draw thousands of Polish to attend his fights has done wonders for his career... When i was at Donaire-Rigo, it may have been because i was done by the stage but the cubans that showed up where all well off guys in suit and ties, who looked like they showed up because they wanted to take their girls to a '"big event". These werent the hard core fans like the ones who showed up for Donaire, in pinoy flags and yelling like crazy.Comment

The Campbell vs Funkea/Angulo vs Rivera/Martinez vs Cintron tripple header had a decent showing of 10,000. Angulo vs Mayorga was originally supposed to be the main event though before Mayorga pulled out a couple weeks before the fight. But who knows how many comps.Comment
