I said this in the Maidana thread, Slugfest gets people watching and talking and this is a business. They held Donaire vs Rigo at the smallest venue of all in nyc (with the exception of the beacon theatre.) because tens of thousands of people are not going to pay to see Rigo no matter how dominant he is for 12 rounds..if you aren't knocking folks out you aren't pulling in ratings..Mayweather is an anomally simply because people are hoping each fight is the one he loses and the day he loses if he loses I bet you he will have to become offensive minded or risk losing huge purses as well.

And by the way, has everyone forgotten the Teon Kennedy fight?? He dropped him 15 times. Rigo is a guy 12-0 with 8 KO's and 6 Championship fights. He KO'd Rico Ramos for his first belt. Sure he has had some stinkers, but so what? He doesnt fight like that 100% of the time. And I dont think the Donaire fight was boring like everyone makes it out to be.
Put him in there with WV2, or Jorge Arce. Agbeko, Darchinyan. Keep him away from guys like Moreno, and you will have an entertaining fight. Can my man get a freaking undercard spot?!??
Rigo has had only one stinker. That was against Cordoba. From the sixth round on, it was like watching grass grow. But Guille has usually torn through his opposition, as evidenced by his KO percentage. (This is coming from a primarily defensive fighter.) If Donaire hadn't of literally run in the final round of their encounter, he would've suffered a KO beatdown of memorable proportions. "El Chacal" would look very interesting versus aggressive fighters, as long as they don't have too much regard for their own health.

Everytime I go to a boxing event here and some 2-0 Cuban guy gets announced, you cn tell quickly that the crowd is majority Cuban. They do support their fighters.
as per HBO like many others, underestimated Rigo. Plain and simple. he ruined there plans. I'm still laughing at all that money I made that night! Lol. "11 fights doesnt earn you a shot at the great Donaire". Lmao.

Sad how much talent rigo has and the love and credit he gets in return. The "experts". Like fatass Dan Rafael are all up on Floyd's nuts after the guerrero fight then they call rigo's donaire performance boring.. come on he schooled battered donaire a p4p fighter .. bob arum greedy old man should just led him out to showtime/goldenboy to fight Santa Cruz marez ponce Gonzalez ..

Boxing not brawling! If his beautiful display of footwork, ability to adapt, and ability to easily set traps isnt for you than this sport isnt either. Go watch MMA or hang at a seedy bar and wait.
He embarrassed what many ranked as a high P4P, FOTY, and the golden boy of HBO. He should be the one being pushed not the loser.
Sign with TR and lose and big things will be coming.

but i just see rigo having too much in the "tough sell" category.
with the likes of provo/bradley, rios/alvarado, GGG... i can totally see HBO saving their budget on more "exciting" fights. unless rigo can SELL fights, they will brush him under the rug.
broner & floyd are the PERFECT examples. "boring" fighters need "exciting" personas to sell...
rigo is a "boring" fighter, and has a "boring" persona. how do you sell this guy? on skills alone? sadly, thats not the boxing business.
