Rigo schooled Donaire and is paying for it. Shame! Why does Arum sign Cuban fighters if he isnt going to put the work in to promote them? Miami has a large Cuban fan base. Why not try to land a HBO card here where he can headline? Everytime I go to a boxing event here and some 2-0 Cuban guy gets announced, you cn tell quickly that the crowd is majority Cuban. They do support their fighters.

as per HBO like many others, underestimated Rigo. Plain and simple. he ruined there plans. I'm still laughing at all that money I made that night! Lol. "11 fights doesnt earn you a shot at the great Donaire". Lmao.

What we are seeing here is HBO trying to manage money. Either they are planning on financing something big (probably at Middleweight) or just trying to keep their lower budget in check. I believe Rigo and his team are probably looking for giant paychecks now. That is not going to happen without star power along with it.

This is soon going to happen at showtime also. GBP has a lot of fighters who want big paychecks, but showtime will have to tighten up also.

HBO has to appeal to the casual boxing fan which makes up 99% of their audience. That said, none of them care how great of an amateur he was in Cuba or how technically skilled he might be. The casual boxing fan wants to be entertained, not put to sleep. That's why he finds himself in he position of not being welcome by HBO. Look at Miguel Vazquez--similar style undefeated lightweight champ... They're not worried about making air time for him. He even has the Mexican American fan base that Rigondeaux doesn't. Togo should just be happy he's getting paid and isn't In Cuba.

If Arum hates promoting him so much, let him go to Golden Boy and Showtime. They have the fighters to make good, exciting fights with Rigondeaux.

Donaire was the one that didn't want to engage and was running for his life in the last round, so I don't agreed why you saying this "fight like did against donaire", Donaire got fuvk up and look like a child against Rigondeaux and he is the one that gets the fight, common man boy/girl be real...

Arum needs to die before he kills boxing!!! What HBO and Arum are doing only hurts the sport! Showtime is doing the right moves but sucks at the time...

many reasons why they would put him on HBO compared to rigo.

i am a fan of rigo, but i TOTALLY understand the notion of him being a tough sell. met him a few times, not a charismatic dude. you gotta be able to SELL a fight like floyd, if you plan to make money as a technical "boring" fighter.

i compare rigo to winky... highly avoided, and sadly will have a hard time getting the shine he deserves.

HBO is a joke. I hope the executives get there **** together. They need to clean house. HBO's bias is so blatant it's bordering being pathetic. Jampley and Kellerman are nothing more than glorified cheerleaders.

People don't get it...you cannot blame Arum for this in anyway shape or form..Networks wants fights that put people in front of their tv's and as much as we all like Rigo he's just not an exciting fighter. Is he an artisan at the game of boxing? Yes but that does not translate into casual fans..HBO and Showtime both are not catering to the going 12 rounds of boxing unless it's two sluggers doing it. I said this in the Maidana thread, Slugfest gets people watching and talking and this is a business. They held Donaire vs Rigo at the smallest venue of all in nyc (with the exception of the beacon theatre.) because tens of thousands of people are not going to pay to see Rigo no matter how dominant he is for 12 rounds..if you aren't knocking folks out you aren't pulling in ratings..Mayweather is an anomally simply because people are hoping each fight is the one he loses and the day he loses if he loses I bet you he will have to become offensive minded or risk losing huge purses as well.

what I meant was the way the fight was fought... one fighter sticking and moving( a lot of moving) and the other being schooled, **** rigo made donaire look guerrero in that fight.
