This was according to that Cuban poster who seems to be in the know with Rigo.

350k, let alone 450k, is a high ass minimum for someone like Rigo. Mares doesn't even make that much. If this is true, it could simply be the case that Arum isn't able to meet Rigo's minimum because HBO won't pay that much.

I asked Steve Kim about my theory, but he said HBO simply doesn't want him though.

If you don't believe Arum, do you guys also believe HBO is begging to have Rigo back and Arum is like "No, I don't want your money!"

      WTF?

        Guillermo Rigondeaux Update

Scuttlebutt on social media Wednesday is that HBO is not interesting in bringing WBA/WBO world super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux back for another fight following his unanimous decision win over Nonito Donaire in April. Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum is not happy about it and will likely have to put the Cuban ring technician on pay-per-view undercards.

Meanwhile, Rigondeaux’s manager Gary Hyde has laid out a plan of potential fights he’d like to put Rigondeaux in that spans five continents.

Fight 1: Rigondeaux vs. Frampton in Europe
Fight 2: Rigondeaux vs. Shimoda in Asia
Fight 3: Rigondeaux vs. Agbeko in Africa
Fight 4: Rigondeaux vs. Darchinyan in Australia
Fight 5: Rigondeaux vs. Mares in North America
Here Gary Hyde (Rigo manager) doesn't deny Arum's comments and is talking about having Rigo fight in four non-American continents for god's sake. Only reason Hyde would want Rigo to travel like this is if HBO really wants none of Rigo.

I don't understand what incentive Arum has not to at least try to put Rigo in some HBO undercards unless HBO really doesn't want him. Is all this conspiracy coming out simply because there's no Donaire rematch? I really doesn't look like there's any interest in one and there's no way they would pay anywhere near the same amount again for part 2. I don't see there being enough money to satisfy both parties even if HBO wanted it. And it could simply be that Donaire or his team just don't want it. Dunkin has been ******* off over a Darchinyan rematch for a long time now. That isn't Arum's fault.

Listen, this guy has the personality of a paper bag and does not fight unless you push him...real hard! Undercard material. A curiosity, not an attraction.

People have every right to choose what they want to watch and HBO has every right to market whom they want to market. It's just sad, from a longtime boxing fan's point of view, that a fighter of Rigondeaux's caliber is being given this sort of treatment. It lessens the sport, if you ask me. Guillermo is a master practitioner of boxing in its the purest form. Perhaps the sport is devolving into something other than what I once understood.

After every PPV thousands of people complain about how boring the Mayweather fight was. But like Alzheimer's sufferers they forget and keep tuning in!

I didn't see a lot of offensive variety against Guerrero, did you??

Rigo vs Mares is going to happen on a GBP card HBO has rejected Arum’s proposals to televise any of Rigondeaux’s fights so Bob would let Rigo fight GBP guys on showtime

well thats in large part because of floyd's mouth. Yeah his standard stuff is pretty repetitive and boring but he always gives you a gem like-they should call me golden boy because I beat your whole crew.

but it stands to reason that they back floyd and ward heavily so why not rigo? other than the language barrier I don't get it myself.

as I said in the other thread it defies logic that the #1 boxing network wouldn't want to air one of the 5 best pure boxers coming off his biggest win.
