it's all about business i think...has something to do with rigo's purse demands. he got paid $750,000 last time he fought donaire so it's expected he would ask for more in his next fight. who is he going to fight to get hbo's interest to bankroll his purse demand?

HBO has invested heavily in Nonito and my boy Mikey Garcia since they stopped showing GBP fighters. Rigo is a direct threat to those investments with his boxing ability. Rigo isn't ****** enough to fight aother guy's fight either.

The language barrier does limit his ability to promote the fight-but if you stage the fights in spanish speaking areas that mitigates it. Besides, when has not speaking english factored into HBO putting you on the air?
You mention 2 "boring" fighters who've built a lot of their appeal (beyond hardcore) on speaking. Floyd with 24/7 etc, Ward with his HBO commentating gig. Spanish speaking ok, but that really means Mexican or PR, and as we can see on this board, there isn't much kinship there with Cubans. I agree they need to make an effort in Miami, all Cuban card.

HBO didn't even build up Donaire, he was p4p when he was still on SHO strictly.

they b uilt their appeal by winning. and what appeal does ward have? he hasn't fought since he started announcin so you can't say he's more appealing because of it.

I get it but it just doesn't make sense to me HBO not wanting rigo.

It's gotta be a purse thing. They must think they'd be well overpaying for what they expect to get in terms of action/standard of comp

Arum expects Donaire and Mikey Garcia to now get separate dates on HBO in Nov. Rigo could co-headline with Mikey, according to Arum

That doesn't sound like HBO not wanting Rigondeaux to me.
