What title? He was just the WBO Title holder, nothing more, nothing less. Jeff Lacy wasn't even a challenger, but the IBF Champ.

Joe Calzaghe was in no position to just stay at home and demand that everyone comes to him. Lacy did it because he was a noob title holder who just won the IBF belt.

But more experienced superstar fighters with titles themselves? Why does Roy Jones have to come over? He had more titles than Joe. Hopkins? Had more titles than Joe. Anybody and everybody had more titles than Joe up until he faced Kessler and unified.

Hell, if he was a major ticket seller and draw in Wales, he might have had something, but he wasn't even that. The money, fame, other Titles were all abroad but he and his promoter were contempt to rack up WBO Title defenses against mandatories of that sanctioning body.

I am not going to argue with a guy, whose whole purpose in life is to discredit a particular fighter. It's pathetic, get a ****ing life you sad little man. Anyone could put a clever highlight reel together, round of applause!

I could also put a highlight reel of him knocking people down and out, at a higher level than that, but I actually don't have the time to do such things.

I don't need videos, I have opinions and actual accounts of people who have been in the ring with the man. People who have been world champion boxers.

I'm pretty sure at least some of those guys are on twitter and I'm sure they would provide you with the answers you seek.

Sure thing. But had he actually not hid out in the 168 division, and strictly stuck to WBO appointed contenders, his career record would probably be more like 43-4, than 46-0. Which still wouldn't be bad.

Hopkins had some very good wins after Joe beat him so Hopkins may have been very old but he was not shot like Roy Jones was when he fought Calzaghe.

He deserves credit for having the right style to make it a ugly and close fight against Hopkins (which could've went either way based on your criteria, activity VS clean punches landed/good defenses/knockdown etc,.).

Hopkins had more trouble with Taylor than he did with Calzaghe, to be honest.

Can I be the moderator in this and give my fair and balanced opinion that Joe Calzaghe's fighting style was like a ***** punching his way out of spider webs.

I mean surely, we can all agree to that in a bi-partisan fashion.

no you couldn't because it simply doesn't exist. it only exists in your mind. yeah who needs facts when you have opinions. opinions are always better than video evidence....

I don't blame Americans for hating him though, remember when Calzaghe made work of a prime Hopkins?

                    Still undefeated.

You could always ask the numerous fighters he hurt in the ring, including Kessler, but I'll let the MAN sum it up the best.

"I knew the first time I saw Calzaghe that he really had something, he went in there completely unfazed against (Chris) Eubank which nobody else had done. Eubank was the guy who usually seemed to have control of everything around him but the way Calzaghe went in there and manhandled him like that...

"I was watching it in Italy, it was the same night England beat Italy to qualify for the soccer World Cup.

"Calzaghe showed and proved power, speed, strength, workrate, stamina, chin, heart and every tangible and intangible that night and that's why I'm not suprised that he's not lost since.

"Sometimes it's like watching a welterweight or junior-middleweight in a super-middleweight's body because he's so nimble and sharp handed. I would never bet against him."

                      Marvin Hagler

Bernard Hopkins at the post-figh press conference:

"My sister punches harder than this guy".

                      I'm just reporting.
