We'll have to wait and see. I certainly don't think you can accurately call a fighter shot with no significant signs of decline and trying to guess whether he'll be able to pull the trigger or not.

I still think Dawson would out-box MOST if not all at 175, first thing is getting the right trainer and STICKING WITH HIM! I think Dawson can rise to the top again at 175 but it all depends on how bad he wants it

Its hard to determine when a fighter is shot..

Saying they cant do the things they use to, makes sense but what about guys like duran and bhop that were still able to compete at the highest levels of the sport even past prime..

I think you can classify guys as
Past their prime: hopkins, duran, de la hoya when he was fighting mayorga, hopkins floyd, manny.. Holyfield in the late 90's.. these guys can still fight and win but just not at the super elite level they previously had....

A shot fighter is a guy that just cant compete anymore at a high level, like vargas vs mayorga, Cintron now, Vasquez in the 4th marquez fight, roy jones since 2004....

In my opinion the Ward loss was his JC-Lacy/pavlik-bhop

ok, sorry, i was just listing some examples, wasnt a perfect list, but yes mosely is shot now...

He was past his prime after the winky fights, but still managed some good fights, and the beat down of margs was a fantastic performance, but he has been shot since then, yet he still landed floyd, manny, canelo... Not bad for a shot fighter but thats what having a "name" will do for you

I gotta disagree with you.. I think stevenson, froch, pascal, kolovev, would all beat him,,, Cleverely may also, but i have my doubts.

He probably could get past hopkins, and bute... but bhop is 48 and bute is soft

                Campillo would give dawson fits...

I only said it jokingly but he's also an example of a fighter who's afraid to pull the trigger.

dawson is done. his chin was never bad. it wasn't great, but it wasn't a joke, the way it was against war @ 168 and again against stevenson @ 175.

we didn't see much, if anything from dawson in his last fight, other than stevenson stopping him with the first punch he landed. to know for sure we'll need another fight. for me, though, a first round stoppage loss to stevenson will seal the deal.

dawson never lived up to his talent, though he had a solid career.
perfect post for the topic imo^^^^^^^^

not living up to his potential means a fighter was over hyped in my book....then on the flip, he doesn't get caught with that shot in '08 like you say....Chad Dawson remains a mystery imo...his next fight will answer the question at hand

I've always rated Chad as one of the best p4p....before Floyd even cosigned his skills I rated Chad among the elite and thought the p4p throne would be his one day....I really thought dude had next....the trainer changes had to play a part in the way he's performed lately imo....like I said, his next fight is gonna be VERY interesting....I hope we're ALL wrong about him being over hyped or shot though...I like Chad!!
