I hope Sergio fights Cotto and then retires...he has given many great fights to the fans and deserves to retire on a high note.

I think that great legends (like Hopkins) should be allowed to retire in dignity.
I think the same about Martinez.

(The bare facts show that the Russians took over 160, 168 and 175 divisions.)
I agree, let these old timers retire looking golden, these younger champs already have plenty of comp to choose from.

You asked if it was the same thing and I showed how its not.

And what Russians have taken over 160, 168 and 175????? Do you own a globe? If so I suggest looking at it and find where Russia is because there are no top Russians at 160 and 168 and only one ranked #3 at 175.

He probably wants to wait for a possible Chavez rematch (they could sell it on that last round alone) or even a Canelo fight at a catch weight. Canelo has expressed interest in fighting Martinez. Dibella just doing his job as a promoter.

Agreed, and by then this could be a huge PPV unification fight with GGG finally getting some decent names on his resume.

Props to DiBella for giving his due to GGG and showing respect to him. It took him time but he did it eventually.

I dont blame them if they dont put Martinez in an unification-fight after a long layoff and injury rehabilitation. You just cant blame them! I think Martinez career is pretty much over anyway. One or two more fights, thats it. Golovkin should fight one of the younger guys, Quillin, Chavez Jr. or the winner of Geale/Barker.
One of these should be made for November. If Canelo somehow beats Mayweather that would be a new "best fight that could be made" candidate.
But Mayweather should beat Canelo and Mayweather will not fight GGG. I think Canelo would do it though. They could do it at 154 or 160.
