I don't think you realize how it works. If you can make the weight in weight agreed upon, you are now part of that division, are able to fight in that division and can win titles in that division, this is boxing.

It does not matter where a fighter has previously competed, only where he currently competes. If Gennady can make the weight he is no different from Canelo, or Cotto, or De la Hoya or any other 154 fighter. He will not be able to carry extra muscle mass or anything of the sort that any other fighter could not at 154, he will not magically be able to hydrate anymore than Canelo can (172 vs 170).

Why would I want to see him fight a smaller, older man? Would you say the same with Floyd vs Canelo or most opponents vs Floyd? They are often bigger and younger. Age is partially irrelevant, and he should not be fighting at JMW if he thinks he's too small for the division, it really is that simple.

If Golovkin rises to become an even bigger star and Mayweather says he's open to JMW fights still, then he has no reason to avoid Golovkin, people who say Golovkin is too big use it as an excuse to see a truly talented fighter (much better than Canelo in all aspects bar maybe counter punching) face another truly talented fighter (Mayweather), and that is the pure truth in the matter.

Floyd has no problem facing Cotto or Alvarez, with Alvarez hydrating HIGHER than GGG did in his fight vs Macklin (172 vs 170).

Just admit, you're ****** and lack common sense.
154 is mayweathers maximum. Okay so lets say 175 (lightHeavyWeight) is the max weight GGG can compeat at. So by your logic it's okay for a David Haye to call out GGG as long as its fought at 175 catchweight. Even Steverson at LightHeavyWeight vs GGG will show you why weight classes exist.

I'm not asking about the rules or whether or not Floyd would have a reason to avoid the fight, I'm asking you why you would want to see this fight and whether or not you would give GGG credit. Simple question.

As a GGG fan, I don't wanna see him fight blown up welterweights because I know he can destroy middleweights so where's the intrigue? I'm more interested in watching him fight other top middleweights and maybe super middleweights down the road.

Yes, it´s pretty much the same. And besides the huge payday I don´t really get the May vs Canelo fight either. With 20+ pounds difference come fight night it´s always possible for the lesser boxer to win. Well? - I think there should be some rehydration limits as a rule so the weight limits would have more meaning. It would make the sport more about boxing ability and less about weight draining.

If Golovkin could reach 175 comfortably, had experience in that division (atleast 1 fight) and wanted to, I'd have no problem with David Haye coming down to fight him. Why would I? If you go into someones weight class they are your equal.

GGG was 170 for this fight, he probably can make 180 max and he will be in with real punchers.

Of course Mayweather is his dream fight. Mayweather is who he respects above all fighters. Just like Martinez and Canelo. And it is not just because he makes a lot of paper.

I would give GGG credit if he won, definetly. Why should I not? Because he a middleweight belt? Fighters can fight wherever they want as long as they make the weight.

Floyd should not be fighting 154 fighters if he is not willing to accept these kinds of challenges... it opens up too many options which I don't think he would want. Don't get me wrong, I want Gennady to destroy middleweights and super middleweights, but if he can make 154, with his boxing ability, talent, attributes and sheer power he could cause the upset of this lifetime, and if he did he deserves full credit. It's intriguing because GGG just seems like a much better fighter than Canelo, Cotto or any of Mayweathers opponents at 154 or 147.

im sick of people saying mayweather is really a 140lb. no he's not he couldn't make 144. just cause he fights a bunch of blown up 140lb doesn't make him a 140lb. and ward wants no part of GGG he wants chavez which is a more lucrative and easier fight. GGG will get ducked for years
