Golden Boy Promotions is killing Top Rank.

Im not talking about in terms of their fighters are beating the others. im jus tsaying that for the last x amount of years a lot of fight we want to see never happened bc of that feud. But now that it seems GBP is signing most og the new talent, they aren't afraid to match up some of their best fighters against eachother like Bob Arum wouldn't have done and that's what boxing needs, just have the best fight the best and give us what we want. GBP has been doing that thus far this year. As soon as Matthysse KO'd Peterson, Schaefer was asked about Lucas vs Danny Garcia and he said absolutely they will try to make it. That is exactly what I like to see. I hope when Arum retires, who ever takes over Top Rank wont have all these politics prevent mega fights .

While I agree that GBP has the better stable, your "GBP is killing Top Rank" comment doesn't stand. Just take a look at the TV ratings for last weeks cards. HBO > Showtime by miles in terms of viewership. HBO's card featured a boring quitter vs a pedo and a guy who has barely managed to remain relevant on the under card. Showtime's card was actually really good.

And we still don't know if Matthysse vs Garcia will happen or not, it should have been confirmed a long time ago.

I don't care who wins the promotional war going on as long as there is a winner so we can get rid of the stipulation that fighters have to be in the same promotional stable for the fight to be possible.

Golden Boy has a lot of prospects and young champions. Many will have to be matched very carefully. But the success is in big money fights, and that is hard to do if you match fighters carefully. The good news is that Showtime is more interested in names than competitive matchups.

HBO have been killing Show Time in ratings.

Showtime may have lost out on money VS Mayweather.

          HBO have banned GBP fighters.

If Showtime don't make money or get in those viewers, who do you think will be dead here?

GBP are still crap; they are protecting both canelo and Garcia. When they match the up with Lara and matthysse then ill give them credit.

Exactly. Also consider that Showtime, unless they are willing to spend big money on each card until they see better ratings, will at some point have to pull the plug. You cannot under any business model continue to invest in something that does not give the returns you expect. It becomes a money pit and will fail. They will eventually reach a breaking point and start offering up less money. That Money will have to come from somewhere else.

GBP has a ton of good fighters who expect a certain pay each time they fight. They are not going to take less, so something has to give. Either GBP will have to get huge live gates for each card, or start their own little PPV's like Top Rank sometimes does.

GBP has thje better fighters and has given us better fights so far. HBO has almost 9 million more subscribers and still has the reputation for being the best boxing network.

I don't see how showtime will ever get higher ratings nor will their ppv arm generate more sales.

TR might be winning now but GBP is building a foundation for the future. They have all the young talent. Garcia, Broner, Canelo etc... So its going to take a couple of years for the balance in power to shift completely in Showtimes favor.

But GB has only recently moved to showtime.
